We've previously stayed at this hotel with no problems, but we arrived yesterday and the room we were put in wasn't at all suitable. We entered room 302 which was up in the roof, which meant the layout of the room was really bad. My husband is 6ft 5, and he wasn't able to maneuver around the bed safely. We've stayed in one of the snug doubles before without any issues.
My husband spoke to reception and we ended up having to pay a further £30 to be moved to a different room. This was completely unfair, but we didn't have a choice due to the safety aspect of the previous room.
Our new room was 122. This room had stains on the door and carpet, had dirt around the window, bad rust on the bathroom mirror, and the shower was leaking. The leak from the shower had caused the wood to become damp and was rotten, so it must have been leaking for quite a while.
The room was also very hot, with no air conditioning. We had to turn on the fan which didn't really help. With the combination of the heat and sound of the fan, we both didn't sleep well.
The breakfast was okay, but we've had better.
My husband mentioned to the receptionist upon check out about how hot the room was and he was told only the front rooms had air conditioning. This doesn't feel right that only some guests get air conditioning, even when paying the same amount of money.
I'm afraid we won't be returning to this hotel and we feel it's no longer 4* quality.
