The room was nice and the staff was amazing, but pass on the "historic cottages" as they are a bit rough. The rangers who conducted the tours are well versed and quite knowledgeable about the caves and the park.

It is a nice park to visit and tour the caves. The staff doing the tours are energetic and informative. However the staff at the visitors center when asked questions basically handed us a brochure and said read it and you will know.. The staff at the restaurant were top notch and very friendly… they made us feel welcome. Now to explain the low scores: we rented cabin 105 for two days. The first day temps were in the thirties at best. We got in cabin turned heat on and the cabin did not warm above the outside temp.. we looked around for the cause and found a 1/2 inch gap from door handle to bottom of door.. we literally spend about four hours in our bed fully dressed and covered up to try to keep warm. My wife went to the reservation desk and was told all other rooms were booked. The best he could do is give us one more blanket.. we asked for two he did not give us an extra. That cabin should not. Occupied when temps are below mid 30 degrees. We paid online for the cabin and felt like they didn’t care about the frigid cabin we spent the first night in. Coming from Michigan we had no other options but to stay in the cabin and freeze both nights. As for the staff in the Green uniforms with the fancy hat… well you may want to retrain them for customer service skills… as for staying at the cabins I would say don’t waste your money or time.. Get a place outside of the park and drive in for the tours.

The room was clean as you would expect an old cottage to be. Dusty here and there but nothing you cant ignore. The bedding was clean and the room smelled clean. Sometimes these park cottages or cabin rentals can smell musty. The water pressure is terrible. After a long day of hiking or going through the cave, you need good water pressure to actually get clean, especially with all the signs wanting you to take conservative showers to save water. The entry door had a massive gap around the frame along the bottom and the front. Tons of daylight shining through as if the door was open. Theres nothing that would keep me from staying here again, but with all the new construction going on, i feel like theres some attention that could be paid to the already existing lodging you have.

We stayed in the Sunset Terrace, which is an older building for sure but they have updated the rooms. The bathroom didn't have any flat surfaces to put anything on and I set my toiletry bag on a towel on the floor. Water was very hot, shower pressure was great. Bed had a crinkly mattress cover that we didn't love. But the room was spotless and I appreciate that very much!

The cabin was rustic. There were large holes in walls and around doors so cold air was constantly blowing in. We enjoyed the beds being in two separate rooms each with its own heat control and thermostat. However, cabin had rodent droppings and roaches. We didnt hear or see mice, but the cabin had only been surface cleaned, not swept or dusted in a long time. The Japanese beetles were also everywhere.

Staff was very courteous, friendly, and helpful. The 'rustic cabins' are only OK. The first one we had (112/113) was pretty run down and absolutely overrun with bugs. We requested to be moved, and the 206/207 cabin was nicer, newer, and cleaner. If you have loud neighbors you will know it - some drunken idiots kept us up for a while the first night. Recommend not staying in these cabins if you're at Mammoth Cave - perhaps the rooms up at the lodge proper are more comfortable for a family.

Beautiful area. Quiet, peaceful. Lots of trails and activities. Staff was very kind and helpful. Stayed in historical cabin - run down, bed was uncomfortable, not very clean.

Many trails around the property were closed due to construction which was not mentioned on the website. Sunset Terrace rooms are outdated but convenient. Beds are comfortable. Area claimed to be an International Dark Sky Park but there was way too much ambient lighting around sidewalks and street lamps and parking lot lights.
