My daughter and I had a very early flight out of Faro and wanted a nice, safe hotel close to the airport. Hotel Monaco had a very friendly staff, clean rooms, and was less than 5 minutes from the Faro airport. I felt it was an excellent choice and would recommend to others looking for something similar.

The rooms and restaurant have been updated. Restaurant had great food options and amazing service. The location near the airport was convenient for an early morning flight. Front desk arranged for a ride to the airport at 4:45 am and had a bag with juice, sandwich, water and fruit ready because we missed the complementary breakfast. The pool was an added bonus! Overall, great experience.

Good hotel, not ideal for early flights

Likely that many people stay here for an early flight. However, the advertised free breakfast and free airport shuttle don’t start until 7:30am and 8am respectively.. in these days where you need to be at the airport 2 hours ahead, that means with a 9am flight these services are useless.

Despite advertising an airport shuttle they did not provide one. Also did not even try to accommodate an early checkin request leaving my elderly mother to sit in the lobby for five hours.

Clean, but that’s it.

The hotel overall is ok, it’s clean and check-in was friendly, that’s about it though. Everything else is bare bones in the room & bathroom. Breakfast was just not tasty, lots of stale stuff and the eggs had a griddy texture and the coffee was terrible, it tasted like it sat in the container for 3 days/totally burned. The cappuccino maker was not really much better.

Stay here only if you need proximity to airport

An old, outdated “motel” feeling place. Dark, dreary and out dated. The “gym” has a couple of ancient pieces of equipment that appear to have been purchased at a garage sale in the 80’s and likely it was done just to say they have a gym. It is unusable and dangerous to work out on. They should close it or significantly upgrade it. The hotel is about a 10 min drive from old town. Despite reserving at Hotel Monaco because it was right next to the airport, it was still a 8-10 mins drive to the airport via small roads. Probably only another 5 mins if you stay in or near Old Town Faro. Their free airport shuttle starts at 8 am so I had to get a Bolt to make my early flight. It was safe, quiet and clean so it had that going for it.

Horrible experience

Hotel is tired, the room had broken tiles in the bathroom and damp ceiling peeling down to the carpet. It was freezing cold when we checked in and no excuse why they wouldn’t warm up the bedroom for me and 2 children beforehand. After a while of having the air con on we had to turn it off as it was burning the air. Check in took forever!! I travel a lot for work and don’t understand why took so long given that we booked 1 week in advance! Never had that before. And then they printed pages of an invoice!!! Didn’t even offered a digital option. We left early morning and the person at reception was not the nicest, as if we were getting in his way… would never ever stay again.
