It is alright. Very tired in places, and generally clean but not immaculate. The pool was quite dirty. The staff were all absolutely wonderful, but we found the locals who have gym/pool memberships there were quite snobby and rude. Our room had a balcony that couldn't be used, there was a bar along the slider to stop us opening the door - possibly because we didn't pay for a room with a balcony, but at that stage it just seems petty to put us in one and block entry to it. Overall a lovely stay, but some disappointments We were really happy with the room and the location – the view was absolutely beautiful and truly one of the highlights of our stay. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, which made a big difference. However, there were a few let-downs that stopped it from being a perfect experience. On arrival, we noticed a sock left in the room, some dust, and one of the drawers had crumbs and debris inside – not quite the standard of cleanliness we expected. We brought our well-behaved dog with us and were aware of the £20 per night pet fee as stated on the website. However, it also mentioned that a dog bed and bowl would be provided, which we never received. In the end, we paid an additional £60 for our dog to stay, even though we were out most of the day. On top of that, parking was £10 per day, so we ended up paying £30 more just to park. Altogether, we were charged £90 extra at check-in, which felt a bit much considering what was promised. Despite these issues, the location and staff were both so lovely that we would stay again – but we hope these concerns are addressed for future guests. Not completely satisfied this time, but the potential is definitely there.

A formerly very grand hotel that has succumbed to the passing years like so many other seaside hotels. Amazing views over Torquay Bay. Room was very dated and brown from top to bottom, but had new curtains. No fridge in room. I took a walk in the hotel garden only to find myself locked out. No way to get back into the hotel except with a combination code that wasn’t provided. This hotel could be the Imperial Queen of Torquay but needs lots of investment.

Nice big room. Had a sea view however there is a huge pine tree in the middle. Room was very big with a very nice and clean bathroom. Check in was easy enough. It is a classic old hotel that could do with some updating. Didnt dibe in so i cant comment on that. Overall a very enjoyable stay abd when the wife says she would stay here again you know its a good hotel.

The staff were v friendly and helpfull,we only stayed one night with breakfast,Our room was v tierd and we didnt want to use the wardrobe as it smelt v unpleasant inside.The bed was v hard and uncomfortable and the pillows were like bricks ,so hence we didn't sleep 😪.The bathroom was more up dated but when using the shower the shower curtain just stuck to you everytime you moved .We did enjoy breakfast and once again the staff were v good.

Had a one night stay at the Imperial, staff were excellent and struck the right balance of attentiveness. Room had a fantastic view, was spacey and comfortable. Breakfast was really good, my wife has a dairy intolerance and they catered for this, at not time did they make it feel like it was an inconvenience. It was a lovely one night stay, relaxing and would happily return.

The hotel is a beautiful Victorian building but it s looking very tired on the outside. Gardens are lovely. There were no toiletries left in our room and an empty dusty room scenter was left in the bathroom even though I placed it on the bin. The floorboards in the room above creaked so much we were awake from 5am onwards with the residents of the room walking around. The hotel did offer to move us but we were on our last day/night. There was a stale smell in some corridors in the ground floor and wet carpet in one area being dehumidified. The spa was lovely and we made use of this. The outside carpark on site is charged for, which as a paying guest I found odd. We also paid to bring our dog and were then told we had to have specific rooms with dogs so a further charge per night was made. This potentially added £40 a night just to bring our dog. Breakfast at £15 a head also felt expensive. The hotel is well located and all the staff we met were friendly and helpful.
