The simple TV in our room was on too small a table and unsecured from tipping over. The armoire was almost up against the corner of the bed. I bumped it getting by and it fell on its face on the little table. I did not think anything of it and stood it up again and centered its feet as best as possible. When we returned from Mass after checkout, we were presented with a bill for 447.50 Euros ($703.00 Canadian). I googled the cost of TVs locally = 199.99 Euros for a Phillips. The clerk insisted the 457.50 Euros was correct. We got ripped off.

Do not book San Giorgio Hotel
I booked this hotel on May 17th and on October 13 I received an email from the hotel sayin they were overbooked they gave me the option to cancel they also said they would secure a room at another hotel. Since the timing was so close to our trip which is in a large cruise there was no good hotels available. Here is a copy of the email I received. In my opinion if you don’t book transportation from the airport from them they say they are overbooked then they accept bookings from those who want transportation from them. The hotel they put us in was horrendous I wouldn’t even rate it a one star. Why did it take them 5 months to realize they were overbooked.

Not good for the price!
The room was not what I suspected the carpet was dirty and old the walls were dirty and all scratched the room needs to be updated.

4 Star Hotel that seems more like a 3 star
The San Giorgio is a 4 star hotel in the heart of Civitavecchia... so the expectations were high... this only lead to disappointment. The lobby looks nice, although very aged and old. The person checking in remained seated at their station the whole time, no personal level of check-in.
The room was aged and not well maintained... wallpaper peeling off, holes cut in drywall to accommodate the door auto-close spring, dirty carpets and probably worst of all was the fact that in a hotel such as this, that provides a kettle in the room, there was no coffee amenities... why have a kettle if there is no coffee. When asked I was told that if a guest buys their own they can use it... then make the kettle on request... I see a large number of people staying here that are going on a cruise, so one night would be the extent of the stay...
Overall the hotel does not appear to have been upgraded in some time and is now no better than most of the 3 star hotels in town... be aware before you book

Wonderful hotel for our pre-cruise stay. Would have stayed longer had we not already had a two night stay in Rome planned. Hotel is lovely, staff so accommodating and great location!

Avoid at all cost. Staff are horendous. Online pics look good and they claim to want to work with guests. Not at all true. Any option but here.

The room was adequate with nice patio. The bed was up a set of stairs. Not my favorite because the bathroom was downstairs. Great air conditioning. It was very hot and humid during our visit. The lobby wasn’t always air conditioned. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. We would stay again.

The staff was very accommodating and friendly. You're right across from the beach. The strip has plenty of places to eat. And you're close to the train which takes is an hour from Rome.
