From the reviewers, travelers seem to love staying here (hence why we ended up here as well). The weekend we were there was very busy -- lots of families and even a couple weddings seem to be taking place at this location (downtown Chicago).
They do offer a few perks -- free breakfast and Happy Hour (we had plans during both times so we weren't able to try either but assumed visitors loved it). However, this hotel does have a churn and burn feel -- high volume of guests with quick turnover.
Overall, the hotel was relatively clean but much, much older. The staff was nice enough as well.
The first night of our stay there was a staff member who asked that you show your hotel key before you were able to head upstairs to the lobby (which I thought was great).
However, the second night and next morning no one did any subsequent checks which unfortunately led to someone wandering off the street, high with an ankle monitor into the lobby.
By the time we made it downstairs to wait our car, the individual was escorted downstairs by an employee, but not out of the building. This individual walked up to my husband who then played the role of keeping this person calm until eventually the cops showed up to escort the individual and ask they never come back again.
I'm not sure why it was up to my husband to keep this individual calm and why a hotel employee didn't step in.
Overall, we won't be coming back to this location.
