I regret to share that my recent stay at Voco Royal Terrace (late May to early June) was far below expectations, especially for an IHG Group property.
Hotel Management and Housekeeping:
The hotel appeared to be poorly managed during our visit. Housekeeping standards were unsatisfactory—the rooms were dated and noticeably dusty, which triggered allergies for some members of our party. The bathroom had a persistent, unpleasant odour that made it difficult to relax or sleep comfortably.
Room Facilities:
The shower facilities were disappointing. While the shower head was branded Hans Grohe, the rest of the mixer set was not, which gave a misleading impression of the overall quality. Additionally, the water pressure was weak, making showering inconvenient.
Breakfast Quality:
Breakfast at the hotel was a letdown. Each component of the meal—fried eggs, grilled tomatoes, sausages, and mushrooms—was served cold and lacked freshness or flavour.
Guest Experience and Staff Welfare:
We frequently observed other guests voicing their complaints at reception throughout our stay, indicating that our experience was not unique. I am concerned about the well-being of the reception staff, who seemed to be under considerable stress due to the volume of guest dissatisfaction. This appears to be a result of broader issues with the hotel’s management.
