4/10 Fair

I‘m rather at a loss at the rave reviews of this place. It’s a beautiful looking, but quite basic set of college accommodation - not a hotel. That means practical things like no reception/ arrival after 8pm, breakfast only from 8-9:30, and check out at 10. All of that wouldn’t knock it down significantly for me were it not for some poor design / maintenance issues with my room (309). The heating pipes hiss loudly even when switched off. The toilet dripped all night; then ran constantly keeping me awake. The extractor fan randomly switched itself on and off all through the night. The shower was missing a washer, which meant it shot out water sideways from the bottom of the hose. The water temperature regulation was totally shot and moved between Luke warm and scalding hot. The curtains don’t black out. All in all I had one of the worst night‘s sleep in any paid accommodation of the year (and I stay in a lot). At £139 it would have been slightly pricey but okay had I actually been able to sleep - which is after all the most basic requirement of any accommodation. As it was, it was terrible value for money and I would not recommend it to anyone based on my experience.

This is a lovely place to stay, both centrally located and, at least in the old block, quiet with rooms overlooking the quad or other green areas. The staff were so helpful and friendly and there is a pleasant cafe and bar area. The rooms in the old block where I stayed were lovely and very comfortable.

West Court Hotel, Cambridge

Clean, comfortable, quiet, excellent receptionist, and most helpful being able to leave our luggage early and again after we left for sight seeing

We absolutely loved it here! An amazing experience in Cambridge to stay within the University. The room was outstanding and does not feel like student accommodation. Its old with original features but still feels fresh and new. I would defiantly stay here again!

The property is very conveniently located to allow great access to all the Cambridge sights. The room was lovely and well-appointed with teas, coffee and even hot chocolate. The property is beautiful and allows for great walks in their green space. The staff were definitely helpful though sometimes with a slightly detached attitude. That is the only criticism I would have.

Breakfast is served in another building. It is not convenient particularly in rainy days.

We had an excellent stay at West Court. The college is very beautiful and peaceful. From our room, we got to see the courtyard from the window and had the breakfast at the hall. It is such a unique experience just like you are living there like a student. The only issue we had was the shower was broken and only cold water is available. But the reception staff was very nice and responsive.

Great place to stay in Cambridge

Based on reviews, decided to give this a try instead of hotels for a conference and was overall happy with my choice. Excellent location near Trinity, St John's and city centre. Stayed in an apartment, which was modern, clean and well appointed. Had a separate bedroom, kitchen/lounge and bathroom. Didn't use the cooking facility but there's the option to cook something, otherwise there's lots of food options in the area. In the room, had the all important ironing facilities in the room). From the receptionist to the staff at breakfast, there was a friendly and warm welcome. Breakfast was served upstairs and was a great start to the day. Would come back for sure!

6/10 Good

Amazing to be able to stay at one of the colleges in Cambridge, but since it was a shared bathroom, and there was no sink in the room, I had to go out of the room to get water for the kettle or just to wash my hands, so that was quite inconvenient. And also you had to take the room key every time you left the room which then cut off the electricity in your room.

We loved our stay! My spouse and I were initially unsure about the shared bathroom, but it turned out to be a non-issue. The grounds were delightful, and while the room was small, the design made it feel just right—cozy and well thought-out. Breakfast was a highlight: the morning walk to it added charm, and the meal itself brought real joy. The location was excellent—peaceful yet well-connected. I would absolutely recommend this place to friends visiting the area. Tip: Shop around for punting—prices can go as low as £20–£25 if you look!

Room in a dormitory in Jesus College. Access to private grounds, breakfast in their dining hall. Quite reasonably priced. What’s not to like here? The shared bathroom. Other than that, it was pretty great.

Fabulous accommodation in great building. Lots of thoughtful touches in the room ie plenty of tea and coffee, great kitchen set up in the apartment rooms. Can’t fault the venue. Great breakfast and all staff very helpful. The accommodation is in a fabulous location, easy for all the sights in Cambridge. Would definitely stay again.

Expectations should be set low for college accommodation at Cambridge. It is not luxury but it was better than what I received as a student. The breakfast in the historic main hall of Jesus college was the best!

Serene Stay in Vibrant Cambridge

What a serene hotel in the lively city of Cambridge. The rooms overlooking the courthouse are particularly lovely, simple but good. It’s a great base for any visit to the city. The only downside was the late start of breakfast service. We would have loved to grab a bite at 6:30 AM before heading out.

Fantastic Find

Wonderful to be part of the college! Central to shops and all that Cambridge has to offer. East walk from the Park and Ride stop and restaurants 5 mins away. Staff were very helpful and informative and helped with our bags. We stayed in early November and were not aware of other guests even though we were sharing a bathroom. Cosy, warm and very clean- a wonderful change from a hotel.
