Great spot in Kyoto! Found some excellent dining within our area, and were quite pleased it was right near the Samurai Museum. It’s walkable to the train system, and fantastic shopping spots nearby. The facilities were great, and really enjoyed the common dining space.

We had a great stay here with 2 young kids. The breakfast was exceptional and I'd highly recommend trying it atleast once in your stay. It needs to be booked the day before so make sure you book in advance as the slots book out. About 8 mins walk to train stations (that are about 3 stops away from Kyoto station) and to the main shops. Would highly recommend staying here.

Modern, minimalist stay in Kyoto

We stayed as a family of 4 with 2 young adults. Comfort wide room with 2 twin and 2 futons was tight with 4 carry on suitcases. Loved the modern esthetic and simplicity as well as the bath products. Close to many key sights, shopping, and Nishiki market.

Absolutely loved this hotel. The location was fantastic, easy walking to the station with our bags, but also walking to the tourist sites, restaurants and shops around it. Booked a room with the loft bunks. So spacious, even had a lounge area and table to sit at. The kids loved the bunks and the space to have bags out, space to hang coats and to hang out after long days etc. The hotel provides a kitchen and lounge space which was great to have our breakfast at, and I saw others eating take away food for dinner in there as well. I would definitely recommend this hotel for the space in the room, cleanliness, polite staff and great location.

Had a wonderful stay at the Tsugu hotel. It is very conveniently located: close to subway and bus, and walking distance to Teramachi and Nishiki markets. Really liked the neighborhood of the hotel. The streets have kept this old charm that is quintessential to Kyoto. We stayed in a Japanese style room, it was roomy and comfortable. We enjoyed the shared "living space" with the fully stocked kitchen. Service was great. The front desk staff helped us check on restaurant reservation and set up the luggage delivery to our next hotel. The only minus was the washing machines which were a bit old. Their spin cycle would still leave the clothes very wet, so machine drying took 2 hours.

Absolutely brilliant! Quirky area, industrial feel

A really lovely hotel, everything about it was wonderful. The staff were discreet but helpful, the room was a good size and quiet, and the common room space and kitchen was much appreciated. Everything just felt great. And the location is brilliant too, surrounded by lots of quirky and interesting shops and restaurants, a short walk from the busy food market and close to the metro. We got to know the area really well over a few days and it felt very safe and calm. The only very minor comment is that there are limited laundry facilities which were always in use.
