Great value! Traditional road-side motel - no frills, but clean and a nice bed to sleep in. Really easy check-in/check-out with not issues!

6/10 Good

Good for a single night. The soap was so old that it didn't work until you left it in water for awhile.

2/10 Poor

no lights in the room worked. burn holes in the bedspread. black hairs all over the sink and faucet. no hot water ever.

The OYO label wasn't anywhere on the property, instead it said "Blue Jay Motel". Only man working was at a different property next door so I waited about 15 minutes to speak to someone. It was run down and dingy, I was scared to stay there alone as a young female. Not to mention, it is nearly IMPOSSIBLE to get someone on the phone.

I arrived and there was NO RESERVATION FROM EXPEDIA. I had to scramble and find another hotel in the area during a sold out Virginia Tech Parents weekend trip. I had to pay $300 a night at two different hotels to accomodate me and my son. Then Expedia says that I am not going to get a refund. This was a horrific experience. Not only do I deserve a FULL REFUND (cannot believe you said I am not getting one) but you should ALSO reimburse me for the two hotels I had to find LAST MINUTE in the area.

Took 20 minutes to register site. Clearly shows there is new paint and new bedding and new linens and new flooring, but apparently these are just showrooms. I ended up in a room that hadn't had the carpet changed for 50 years. Colors were brand new but over the top of dirty stained walls. Stains already starting to show through no bathtub. Just a shower tiny clearly says on the check-in. No refunds which should have told me something right then

Run down Motel, not a hotel.

This motel is in the middle of the freeway, right next to the gas station and there is nothing around. It is very run down place. Picture of the room is from a different motel or taken 30 years ago. There are no people were around and i saw staff member only twice-when i got the key and on check out. There was a power outage for about 6 hours or more, i could not find anyone to ask for a flashlight or a candle. I guess when you need a place with a door for one night, i’ll do.
Viktor, 2-night trip

2/10 Poor

Not a good motel, not a hotel.

Arrived and name on motel was Bluejay, not what was advertised. Would not suggest others to stay. Towels felt like they were hung dry. If I wasn't so exhausted would not have stayed.

In need of a full renovation.

No heat, no new soap only a used soap bar, no tissue, broken sink, needs a total renovation

This was a scary site when we pulled up and the sign at the road does not even read OYO Hotel, it reads Blue Jay Motel. I would pass on staying here again, we were supposed to stay 2 nights and only stayed 1 and I would not even use the shower, I took my shower somewhere else and not at this scary place.

Stay away

Looked nothing like the pictures in the the actual room, name different on the sign

Aged property and non-smoking room smells like smoke, but there is a fridge with freezer, microwave and a nice Mexican restaurant a mile down the road. Inexpensive compared with near by options, and close to trailhead.

I don’t usually give reviews and certainly not bad ones but seems this property had its heyday in the 1950s and hasn’t been updated since. I should have read the prior reviews as I mistakenly assumed the OYO connection helped but there was no sign, literally, of OYO and the pictures online are very misleading. This property is what it is - a rundown roadside motel - and you get what you pay for.

The owner was pleasant. The property however, was HORRIBLE! If I could give zero stars I would. The bed was hard, the shower was a linens closet in the bathroom with tile from floor to ceiling and a broken shower head. Needless to say we did not use the shower. The property is VERY dated. It doesn’t look like it’s ever been update or maintained. The tile behind the bathroom door was cracked, pieces missing and just horribly dirty. The bathroom floor was sticky. The walls are blue and there are patches done to the wall (which are big spots of white). I was extremely surprised that OYO had their name on the motel (it’s NOT a hotel). The sign out from is the Blue Jay Inn. Another example of lack of cleanliness, maintenance at a huge price.

They posted Hotel OYO but it motel name Blue Jay. It’s terrible ad

Sub standard no service

This place is a dump, it listed check in as 4pm-Midnight, we got there at 11pm and no one was at the lobby. Two cats roamed the dirty lobby room, the hotel sign said Blue Jay Hotel, not listed on the info. I do not recommend this place, we are hoping to get a refund for no service.

Customer service was an absolute terrible experience the staff at first said theybdo not rent to anyone local due to an bad experience from a previous tenant which i understand but why foes that apply to new coming customers. Either way just fron the poor customer service and rudeness i will not return to this establishment

The property and rooms were very old and outdated. The bathroom door had to be slammed to shut and yanked very hard to open. Nobody was ever at the office window. Not once was there ANY housekeeping and I had to borrow their vacuum to vacuum my own room. I was there for 4 nights of yuck.

It was not very clean got call asking if I left a gun under the bed a what! Yes a gun all rms non smoking non refundable deposit for room that was not as described only a tiny shower no baths tub rooms went to grab breakfast and the manager had been in my room while I was gone I am not happy at all about my stay I want a refund

The place needs to be renovated. Bathroom had broken tile and the caulking was a mess. The outside looks like it has been abandoned. I would say it is about. 20 min drive to Va Tech and easy to get into and out. If you are staying one night then it’s doable.
