Review of Sunrise
The sunrise section is very dated. The elevator in our building didn’t work making it very inconvenient. Housekeeping was just ok - never gave us enough towels. Room service was late a few times. Restaurant reservations is such a process and annoying. Drinks are watered down. Service is hit or miss. We visited Nizuc one night for dinner and you can clearly tell it’s a higher level. If we were to come back, we would book grand or nizuc. We still made the most of it and had an enjoyable vacation. Weather was perfect.

We were met at this property with an immediate and pushy sales pitch. Once we insisted we were not interested in membership we were treated very rudely and a bell boy was summoned to show us to our room which consisted of a golf cart ride through a maze of buildings and quite far away from all the action…. Restaurants, bars, entertainment etc. we opted for a swim up room. It rained most evenings as it always does in Mexico which is why Mexico is so beautiful but here, when it rained at night, a noxious raw sewage smell permeated our room to the point it was impossible to sleep! We closed the bathroom door and clogged the sink and that helped some but not much. The patio outside our door was flooded the entire time we were there. We had to lay towels down just to walk without slipping. Nothing was convenient! This resort is giant so be prepared to walk or wait for a golf cart to go anywhere! The food was subpar all around and almost all restaurants require a reservation the day before. The best food we found and basically lived on while there was the coffee shop/cafe sandwiches in the Sunrise lobby! At this resort you are not a guest you are a number. We will not go back.

The hotel needs some maintenance to rooms and pool area. Had mildew on walls and pool. A few restaurants were close which was limited. They should focus more on keeping it in better conditions than trying to sell me a membership which was very annoying. They would stop even after i had checked out waiting for my transportation.
