10/10 Exceptional

Positive stay

Positive experience and cheap. Comfy bed but there was a wedding party using the hotel that night so a bit of noise but nothing excessive.

good stay on1st floor better than 2nd floor

As expected for the price

You get what you pay for. Very overdue a refurb, very old decor. But surprisingly clean, good shower and comfy bed. Only stayed 1 night so it's all we needed. Chose for location more than anything and suited us fine.

Although clean, facilities poor and very dated. Wedding music loud under room but did stop at 12.30am as told.

6/10 Good

Overwhelmingly ok.

The furniture is pretty old but it's all nice and clean. The pillows are very hard. Parking was easy. Hotel staff seemed friendly. The walls are quite thin so if neighbours are a bit loud you'll be hearing them. The free lobby wifi is good just a bit slow. The shower is nice. The toilets were clean. Complimentary soaps, coffee and tea is nice. Id say that this stay was great value for money and I'd definitely stay here again. My one big complaint being the pillows, but I didnt contact the hotel staff, so there may be softer ones available.

Lift was out of order and main light in room was not working. Staff were very polite and smartly dressed. The building is charming but would benefit from a little TLC. The room itself was very clean with a well stocked hospitality tray. There was virtually no noise from outside which meant a peaceful night's sleep. The bathroom could do with a handrail to assist with getting in and out of the shower. Could also do with more parking spaces for disabled guests near reception. This was a single night stay and was in a handy location close to the university.

2/10 Poor

Awful, dirty, wouldn’t recommend to anyone!

Not a very warm welcome, person on the desk was abrupt and just wanted us out of the way when he finally got around to checking us in. Went to the room, was appalled at the state of it! Old, run down, dirty, smelly and just felt unsafe! The bed had an old brown mattress that you felt every spring of, there was a table with a kettle - no where near a plug socket so couldn’t use without being right next to the tv on an unsteady table. Floor boards that moved completely when you stood on them - felt as though you could go through them at any point. The window was being held open by one of the towels which was stained and wet! The window was mouldy and they had a car air freshener to keep it from smelling even worse. The bathroom was disgusting. The toilet was super cramped, toilet roll holder broken, open bin for Sanitary products. The shower was not even a metre by a metre and had a dirty shower curtain held up with mastic - poorly done as well! The bathroom sink was on the outside of the bathroom right next to the tv stand. It was all very cramped and dinghy! Would not recommend to anyone! Looks nothing like the pictures provided by the site or the actual hotel itself! We were given one set of towels between two of us and they were dirty. Asked for more and it seemed as though we were causing an inconvenience to them by asking for more.

for a 3 star hotel, the condition of the property seems run down, a renovation would be needed to make this place thrive, beds are well a bed, but not the best at all, night porter walking around woke us up 3 times in the night, not much sound proofing for the rooms
Blake, 1-night trip

As expected very dated hotel - but convenient for the station and cheap (if that’s what looking for).

My overall experience was fine, comfortable and staff friendly and helpful. Would stay again.

Do not stay hear.

I am stunned about how bad this hotel was. Old, dilapidated and not clean. I should have realised, given Britannia Hotels’ reputation. But Shame on Hotels.com for listing this place.

At least the staff were nice... For the cheapest hotel in Stoke I'm not sure what I was expecting but its certainly not a place i'd recommend to anyone. The bed was clean but noisey. The walls are paper thin and every step makes the floor boards creak so you can hear every movement around you, even from the floor above. I had to request new towels as the ones provided had questionable stains on them. The decor hasnt been touched for decades so it feels very dated and gloomy.
Daniel, 4-night trip

4/10 Fair

Bath mat had mold in the crevasse, the toilet seat was peeling, the floor boards creaked seriously and the TV only had two channels that barely worked. Paid online and was expected to use a physical bank card to pay a 1p confimation fee (which I couldn't pay as we were stranded that night) eventually found a convoluted way around it. Bit atleast it was cheap n

8/10 Very good

Rooms are basic and small, its ok if just want room to put your head down. Rooms could do with some basic upgrading to help make them look more modern Shower was good, very powerful but if your short there is struggle actually to climb into the bath to get under shower as side part of bath is quite wide Staff very friendly and helpful. Very central and littarly 1 min walk from train station and bus stops
Alison, 2-night trip

4/10 Fair

There were stains on the bed sheets, wallpaper on the ceiling was hanging off. The room room was grubby and smelt musty. The toilet seat was loose and the bathroom door didn’t shut properly. The only good thing was that the staff were lovely
Samantha, 1-night trip

8/10 Very good

Not too bad

The staff are helpful but you need to ask for things: extra tea/coffee/milk/bubble bath/iron. The place could do with new windows but the inside downstairs is beautiful.
Catherine, 3-night trip

6/10 Good

Decent hotel

For what you pay I guess not bad. Very basic rooms. Beds were very comfy. Bedroom had small TV far away from the TV so couldn't really watch TV properly. Rooms came with coffee/tea. Basic bathrooms and basic rooms. Breakfast was very nice for £11.50 a person for a buffet normal british breakfast selection. Was tasty though. Decent amount of parking outside. Very old hotel which I kinda liked, but could do with a bit more maintenance an upkeep. Did have a leaking roof above bath, spoke to reception and they changed our rooms with no hassle which was nice. . Overall comfy stay for budget price. Especially if you not too fussy about accommodation and jush looking for place to stay

Avoid like the plague,

Stayed while taking my son to University, a very tired looking hotel, that needs some love and attention, the communal areas are dire, wall paper peeling and plaster blown, strong smell of cleaning products so overpowering that had to keep the window open all night, room was big and the bed was comfortable which was the only plus of the stay, the location is great, but the hotel just need a complete refurbishment to bring it back to what coould be an amazing hotel, such a shame

Overall it was good and cheap. We stayed only one night. We are happy about our room .We did not get the chance to meet their staff .Only we met the receptionist, he was nice and polite person.Their lift was not working it was shame.

Nice hotel

Big rooms, overall good for the price. Fantastic location. Helpful staff.

10/10 Exceptional

excellent except WIFI service

over all it was excellent stay but what put me off was WIFI ,if you are on ground floor then WIFI is free but in your rooms you need to pay for wifi which is 7 pound's per day which is ridiculously expensive. if per room is charged even 1 pounds per day business can easily make pout per month from paying for internet services. I think wifi should be free for all rooms. else everything was good.

Discussting

Absolutely discussed with this hotel. The rooms are outdated and filthy. Beds are made of wooden box with very hard and old mattress. The smell of the hallway was absolutely disgusting. Room didn’t look that it was cleaned prior to arrival, apart of clean towels. Please avoid this hotel. Price is not adequate for the room you are getting.
