The check-in staff member named Rauf was extremely rude and unprofessional from the moment we arrived. His sarcastic remarks and lack of empathy were highly disappointing and not indicative of the service I expected from your establishment. Here are the specific issues we encountered: Upon our arrival, I mentioned to Rauf that I was tired and would like to check in as per my hotel confirmation. Instead of assisting us in a courteous manner, he sarcastically replied that he was tired too. This response was entirely unprofessional and uncalled for. Despite having made a booking request for an early check-in six weeks in advance, Rauf refused to accommodate this request. Furthermore, he denied us internet access while we waited until the 2 PM check-in time, forcing us to purchase separate internet access. This was both inconvenient and unacceptable. The room provided to us was situated near a bread-making business that operated throughout the night. The noise made it very challenging to sleep peacefully and significantly impacted our stay. Rauf's behavior and the lack of consideration for our booking requests and comfort were unacceptable. This experience has greatly affected my perception of the hotel, and I hope immediate action is taken to address these issues.

Just returned from a four day stay at this lovely hotel. Perfect location and super friendly staff who couldn’t do enough to help. I had fractured my metatarsal a week before going, not ideal but the team at the hotel facilitated all my requirements at very short notice. Service was really good, breakfast was great. Staff were very helpful. The area was the best thing as it was near the tourist attractions and near the tram station at sultanahmet. Charming, boutique hotel in a very convenient location, super close to the main landmarks of Hagia Sophia, blue mosque and Topkapi palace. The staff at Royan hotel were extremely friendly and helpful from the second we arrived, to the last minute we left. Fatih at reception guided us with routes and maps for excursions and how to get around Istanbul especially as it was our first visit to the city. No question was any trouble for him and he greeted us with a smile every morning and evening. The supervisor/manager Serwet was equally helpful and very kind. We appreciated the kind gesture of a parting Turkish gift. Everyone working at the hotel were hospitable including the cleaner Songu and the breakfast staff. Osman in particular gave us the perfect eggs every morning with a smile! Nothing was too much trouble. The hotel was extremely clean, well managed, beautifully designed and decorated and the facilities were of a very good quality. The rooftop breakfast was amazing especially with the sea view and the choice of foods was good. Only minor negative point we would suggest to not waste so much paper with the cutlery in paper envelopes and used for menus - could there be a more environmentally friendly option? Perhaps the salt/pepper could also be labelled. Overall, the hotel was full of character, the place and people were wonderful and we would highly recommend Royan hotel to anyone seeking a comfortable, safe, clean and friendly stay in the heart of Sultanahmet Istanbul.
