Avoid. Plenty of decent places in Chester.
Terrible experience. Had to keep asking reception for bar service. The room was tired and the bathroom was mouldy. Breakfast was appalling, cold plates, cold food, just horrible. Fruit choice was an apple. Waited 10 mins to check out like others. Was told then by restaurant staff to leave card on the counter. Stayed in many hotels this past year with work and travel and I can safely say this place doesn’t deserve anybody’s business.

Could be so much better
We reported the sink plug stuck. We were asked if we wanted it reporting to maintenance, obviously yes! It wasnt fixed. We noticed a lot of cobwebs on the stairs walls skirting boards dusty etc. The bathroom had mold around bath, mirror & the soap holder werent clean. Tissue and both washes (sink & shower) were empty. Staff on reception could do with being abit more friendly. Small changes could make this hotel a 5* also the bed was 2 singles pushed together 😫

Has gone done so quickly under the new management
Booked a double room and was allocated to a single room the size of a cupboard, mearly 9sqm... no customer service and no interest shown in resolving the problem. Management not showing up and didn't care. Breakfast buffet was so poor that past 9.15 on a sunday moring there was nothing left on hot food.

The positives & negatives of McDonald Hotel - Ches
The bed was extremely comfortable and the night shift staff were attentive and they provided great service. The room was slighly cold. Shower water was honestly freezing. The sink was totally blocked. The side of the bath was broken & sharp and caused me hurting my leg. Breakfast was booked for a certain slot yet there was only 3 vegetarian cooked items left! I actually paid for 2 breakfasts when I booked, but there were not enough for one.. NO-ONE were cleaning as other guests have left. A rag & antibacterial was left on a table for the duration of my breakfast and my salt shaker was terribly dirty with old sauce on it. It was very poor.

Past your best McDonald Blossom.
Oh dear McDonalds Blossom Hotels. It feels like you are about to shut down what a disappointing weekend break we had with you. During our stay I was invited to book in to the restaurant, when we asked about it we were told it’s been closed since 2019. We paid hard earn money for a poor experience. Where to start The hotel reception area smells of drains and is very unpleasant. The staff tried to be attentive. Our room 109 was a good size with a comfy bed. The bathroom however had lots of black mould on the tile grout the shower fitting is just hanging on the wall by its pipes the bath plug take an age to drain away, the shower door is ineffective and let water seep all over the floor, the extract fan don’t work. We did not get our room serviced even when we left the door sign on asking for service. Weekend breakfast is not worth your money. The food was not ready when guests arrived and after 25 minutes some left only having a bit of toast. It was really bad cheap sweet bread, mediocre coffee in a flask the condiments when available were in bowls that looked like they hadn’t been washed for days just refilled on top. Not appealing at all. The serving plates had seen better days. And not a single pasty available on Sunday morning. Other guest were seen shaking theirs heads in disappointment. Guest having to ask for food items to be refilled. It is fair to say we will not be staying again. Great location though.

Central location
Old building in need of refurb/TLC. Great location for city centre and Christmas markets, but also close to a few clubs so was a bit noisy at night (though we had a room closer to the clubs, might not be a problem in other rooms) Buffet breakfast at the weekends when busy, breakfast cooked to order on Monday morning. Good selection of food, though items were running out when busy, and coffee was weak for my taste Bedroom was clean enough, but public areas were hut an miss Overall we would return to Chester, but might choose a different hotel next time

Hot nights and Cold showers - Room 110
Shower was lukewarm and radiator heating could not be turned down. I slept with the window open to cool the room and had a cold shower the first morning. I informed the front desk who later informed me the faults had been fixed. A second night and morning showed that the faults were unchanged.

A bit disappointed
The hotel had a lovely Christmas tree and we were greeted by a friendly receptionist. Our room was a nice shape and cosy, as you'd expect for a standard room. It was a bit chilly and we struggled to get it warm. The towel rail in the bathroom did not work and the tea and coffee privided was a bit odd- 5 small milks and one small packet of biscuits between the two of us.Our room was serviced and the bed made, as expected. Used glasses were not removed or replaced and still no more biscuits. We just felt that there wasn't much care. We had an email to say we could use the leisure facilities only to be told , by the barman, that 'we don't have any! People think theres a golf course and we don't even have a snooker table!' I feel this sums it up wuite well.

Disappointing - not like the description or the pi
Hotel looks nice from the outside and on the pictures, but the room I stayed in was in a very sorry state. I booked a deluxe room and when I got in, the shade on the bedside lamp was hanging at a funny angle so I straightened it and the whole thing fell off leaving exposed electrical connections. I fixed this one for them. The toilet seat was hanging on by only one fixing. Not great. The bath is under the window so the shower sprays the window sill which is consequently rotten and covered in mould. I felt like I would get more dirty just by getting in the shower! The room was very sparce and nothing like the lovely picture for a deluxe room. Dressing gowns were provided but they weren't hung up, they were just screwed up in a ball on one of the shelves in the wardrobe which made it look like they hadn't been changed from the last occupant. Reception staff were very polite and the breakfast was nice but the hotel is in need of some TLC I would say.

We had a room looking onto the main street which became very noisy at night. Saxophonist, drunken groups, street cleaners and a 2 am delivery with serval crates of product made for an awful sleep. Considering this was a family room I'm surprised they put kids there. The room itself was above Lush so if the window was left open your nose burnt from the smell of the shop. There were patches of mold on the ceiling in both the bedroom and the bathroom. The cleaners don't do an amazing job considering we were finding Primark clothing stickers on the floor and curtains from previous occupiers. The bed sheets do not cover the beds when made into a double as soon as you sit on it they move and may as well not be on the bed.

Good location, that’s about it!
I would say this isn’t really a hotel for families. More of a one night party hotel. The extra Z beds offered for the children were unsuitable, one had no springs down the side! When we let the hotel know they said thanks? Breakfast was average and took and eternity to arrive and the bar is only open on a Friday and Saturday. If you are couple looking for somewhere to stay in Chester for a night and not have to get a taxi it’ll do. Although the travel lodge is only another 100m down the road!
