What a good do

We had a very good stay and will go again we didn't have enough time to walk round the village but it looks lovely The staff are helpful and go out of there way to help and for us we had a surprise with the bill , the computer hadn't put the drinks or the food on :) I went back to explain this and for my honesty he halved the food and drinks bill, What a good do, I would have paid more

OK but tired

Booked this with Tesco voucher deal hoped for better given the reviews. The hotel could be amazing, it has some lovely original features but it’s all looking rather tired. On arrival we were informed we had been reallocated a ‘better’ room. As you went through the door to get to our room there was an awful damp smell and it was particularly shabby, the room needed some TLC and looked out onto the rear car park, if this was the better room I’d hate to see what our original room looked like. I suspect we’d actually been given a lesser room based on it being a voucher booking, who knows. Bed was comfy, slept well. Breakfast was good but the breakfast room itself was rather gloomy, we weren’t able to choose where we sat, would have rather had a table by the window which was unoccupied the whole time we were there. The room lacked something, not just light. Would I stay here again, not by choice I’m afraid.

Clean room and excellent shower

Our room was very clean with a comfortable bed and fantastic powerful shower. Only drawback was the windows appeared to be painted shut so on a hot humid night it was stifling. A fan was provided but I couldn’t sleep with it on due to the noise.

Great Fun

We had such a great time here as a group of friends catching up after a long time. We had 2 rooms booked between 4 girls and we were very comfortable. The food was all freshly cooked and both breakfast and dinner were delicious. Jonathan made our night with his drink recomendations and general humour. Really lovely pub, great atmosphere would definitly visit again.

Rowing Weekend

We were a large group away for a rowing weekend. The hotel staff went out of their way to make sure that we had a comfortable stay and were extremely helpful and friendly. Everyone had a great time and we will definitely be back.

Wonderful Stay

Location in lovely little village and choose as ee wished to drive through Mid Summer trails so perfectly placed. The actual accommodation is quirky with the traditional low ceilings and sloping floors so if you are a modernist this is not for you, but my husband and I loved it and he is 6ft 2 and did not bang his head. Decorated and dressed in the traditional style and we both had fantastic nights sleep, I was appresshensive as the bed felt firmer than at home but slept like logs. Breakfast good quality and all staff either in the pub restaurant or reception friendly helpful and made us laugh. I would definitely stay again as good base for Mid Summer trails but also easy to get to National Trust properties and into Henley on Thames.
