This is a hostel even when you get a private room is not clean and we found insects. If your into hostels this is grow you the location is great But the hotel is so awful that is not worth it.

We were under no illusions that this would be a fancy hotel. We had booked a suite, but we were checked into a standard room, without being notified (~120 USD price difference). When we enquired, they advised that there had been a booking error. There was no offer of a refund for the difference, in fact - they refused, with a healthy dose of mansplaining to boot. The room we were in was fine, but it was not what we paid for. The attitude of the staff was atrocious (the girl who checked us out was great though).

Stayed for one night in a private room with private bathroom. Room was pretty, comfortable and very clean. Staff was super friendly. The pool is quite small but the restaurant is nice and the food was good :)

The hostel was awesome. You meet a lot of people and there is always activities on the rooftop at night. The two building across each other was good that you can visit the rooftop and pool where ever the party is at. The only issues you run into is bringing guest in. You can only bring one guest and you need a private room to be able to bring them.

Staff were very friendly throughout the stay. Great place to meet tons of people from all over. The only downside is it’s located next to a club so on weekends you hear the music and partying loudly throughout the night.

I'm angry at this property and giving them bad ratings because, though I made a mistake in the booking dates, which was completely my fault, they did not have the courtesy or professionalism to respond to my message - or even pick up the phone - when I tried to contact them see if anything could be done. Any hotel that cannot even maintain the most basic communication with a customer, while accepting their money, is not worth staying at, in my opinion.

Make no mistake it’s a hostel, even the individual rooms are noisy and not sound proof.

Overall we had a disappointing experience at Selina Cartagena. The location is nice (walkable to the Old City and in Getsemani) and there are nice amenities like the rooftop pool and bar. However, we stayed in a tiny private room, which was damp. We were next to the shared bathroom and we think the dampness might be because the extractor fan was broken. The bathroom was also dirty throughout our 4 night stay. But what was really disappointing was having money stolen from our private room. The policy we signed at check-in said that valuables should be kept in lockers. However, our private room had no locker or safe. We counted our money on arrival, hid it in two separate places in our bags and never took those bags out of the room. When packing up to check-out we recounted the money and $100 was missing from one place and $50 from another. We spoke to reception about it and they said management would get back to us. We contacted Selina Cartagena days later when no one had reached out. They said again that a manager would be in touch but still we’ve heard nothing. We would have stayed in other Selina hostels during our 4.5 months in South America but, having now experienced other hostels and this disappointing experience, we won’t be.
