A new home in Izmir

Although I've an aunt in Izmir I needed to stay somewhere unfamiliar and Shanti was extremely helpful since it really feels safe. Cleanliness and order are not the best I've seen but it's worth it.

The staff at this hostel were frendly and helpful. It is well geared to meet the needs of travellers. Although the building is run down, the place was clean. The shower was hot, and towels were provided. There was a washing mschine available for 10 lira, and space on the roof to dry clothes. Drinking water was free, and there was a kitchen for use. Breakfast was provided free, although a small donation was encouraged. There was no airconditioning, and the rooms could be hot. The surrounding area is full of Bars and restaurants that operate into the early hours, so if heat and noise bother you, this is not the place for you. Otherwise the location was good. Close to cafes, shops and the waterfront. About 400m from the Metro.

I haven’t stayed in such a good hostel for a long time. It’s just a great place for backpackers. The room and the bed are so comfortable. Bathrooms are clean and convenient to use. You can relax or hang the clothes on the terrace, which is important to me..l feel the atmosphere is just fit me. I was sick when I stayed in there, and one of the staff made me an herbal tea. Thank you very much!! If I visit Izmir again I definitely will stay here again.:)

I like the staff, the owner was a polite person. The atmosphere was friendly and I think the place was clean. However, I experienced two important problems. The first one, the room where I was staying, was very hot and we got a cooler, but it didn't help (if there was a air conditioner, that would be great), so because of this reason, I couldn't sleep well. And also, the wifi connection was terrible, I went to the closest Starbucks to use the internet.

The best hostel I’ve ever stayed

Hi, my name is Iris, I’m from Mozambique, I was doing a trip for a few days non-stop, I arrived very early in Izmir, 5am!!!! I sent the hostel manager a message asking for a earlier check-in (since ir was only at 12am and I had to wait for 7h) went around the city, had breakfast, as soon as he woke up, he told me to come, gave me breakfast, arranjed a bed and let me sleep! This is AMAZING! There you wont only get the best treatment, you will get a family, I stood in a room for 8, it was confortable, we all shared what we had (of course you dont have to, we wanted)! I made cool friends, they adviced me on my futire trips, how to get there, good things to see, we shared our stories! Stayed for just 2 days but they were very good 🙏 Thank you Shanti! If you are looking for a peaceful, respectful place and friends, this is the spot!
