Check before you book!
I have learned from this visit to make sure that the hotel we are staying in for a vacation not be one where corporate events are being held. All of our "neighbors" seemed to be waking up in the 6AM range and leaving their clock radios playing until they'd leave their rooms...with loud slams. And they all watched TV until the wee hours. The walls were very thin. Perhaps the hotel should not put vacationers in the same area.

Gurney’s is tired
My wife and I escaped to Newport for a night and chose Gurney’s as a splurge. Yes it’s expensive, but we didn’t care. We are not the kind of people to complain or even care about a short wait or a small slip up here or there. But everywhere you look… the place is crumbling.
From check-in accidentally down-grading our room (it was resolved quickly) to insisting on reservations at the Pinapple Club just to grab a drink by the fire pits when they were VACANT (we swung by after dinner and they were still vacant), to the inattentive servers at Showfish, to the tired rooms… I was honestly just surprised.
I’ve been to Hampton Inns in better shape and with better service than this place.
Overall it was a generally disappointing experience and we won’t be back. There are plenty of other places to stay in Newport.

Beautiful !
Stay was amazing. Loved the pool and atmosphere. The fireplace needed reservations which was neat but also annoying at the same time. Since we just wanted to freely sit wherever but it was hard sometimes with the reservations. Felt a bit restricted with where to sit at times. The rooms were clean and comfy. There were bathrobes and slippers in the bathroom which was great. Complimentary coffee and water bottles in the room. There’s a shuttle that takes you downtown which was great. Runs every 30 mins. Of course parking on site is free but you do pay for the shuttle and parking with the $40/day resort fee. Overall, pretty pricey for the stay but it was beautiful.

Needs update
We have stayed at the gurneys montauk, and it’s no comparison. Our rooms were outdated, and had some kind of dirt (dog pee/poo) on the floor and was wet from the AC. The outdoor areas were really nice but the rooms weee ok. The outside of the building could definitely use a new coat of paint or something. It’s an OK hotel.

Good … can be great , but…needs an upgrade
Employee and customer service was absolutely perfect! Views and location are glorious . The only downside is the needed upgrade of rooms . We got a good early summer rush deal, and I know why .. but I would not pay the $$$ to stay here . Again you will receive best in class service , just be ok with a bit dated rooms , pools , etc .

I'm starting to find that everytime I have an issue with a room, I get the reply because I booked the room thruogh a third party.... I feel I'm always getting the worst room in that category I paid for. It's making me very disappointed to hear that line becuase I'm booking through Hotels.com
The room was small and crampt and the balcony I paid for was a door that looked like it might be an adjoining room, when I opened the door that apparently was the terrace. The front desk was not very knowledgeable saying their is not elevator to take you to your room, when the room was via corridors where an elevator was not even necessary.

You state Dog friendly but you have no accommodations for us to eat anywhere with our dog. Dog friendly not so sure
