A hidden gem
From what I'm told, the Anton Reef hotel was constructed fairly recently; the interior design is clean and contemporaneous, attractive to arriving guests. Located behind the "VIP Club" bar/restaurant on Pedro Clisante, near "Kings" and the banks, Anton Reef hotel enjoys prime location, within walking distance of the many quality restaurants, bars and establishments in the local area. Playa Alicia is approximately an eight minute walk. There is a station for Policia Nacional just around the corner (probably two blocks away), providing security. Supermercado Playero is approximately a seven minute walk, and has booths for both Claro and Altice cellular/SIM services. The rooms themselves are clean and spacious. The "superior room" has a couch, a larger refrigerator, and a king size bed. A small swimming pool is accessible via the stairwell leading from the ground floor up to the second floor. The greatest strength of this hotel is the staff; Steven (who has recently changed his career/field, and is no longer with Anton Reef) and Carlos are top-notch front desk agents; they both speak excellent English, and are able to provide recommendations for local activities/excursions. The housekeeping staff are also fantastic, and left my room immaculate every single day. The cost of breakfast (from 8AM-11AM) at the nearby restaurant is included in the reservation. Prices are reasonable, and the hotel provides a good value. Would not hesitate to return here in the future.

The rooms are small, Wi-Fi is spotty, and it didn’t work for long periods. Price is the same as hotels that offer a lot more in terms of room size, modernized bathroom vanities, and other amenities. This place should be half of its current price.
