We stayed ten or so years ago and had an amazing time. We returned for a special trip, but were quite disappointed.
The property looks a little tired, and in need of some basic maintenance/upkeep. They seemed woefully understaffed, and some of the service particularly in the dining room was not great.
The restaurant has dipped significantly in quality, especially for thr priced charges. Our $25 eggs Benedict arrived with a congealed version of hollandsose ( I suspect mayonnaise based), and was cold. We sent it back, and the server returned breezily a minute or two later saying it was now steaming hot as she’d microwaved it… so now the eggs were over, the smoked salmon was cooked…
When we had dinner, the vegetables /carrots and asparagus) were boiled to death and mushy, the potato dish was dry and the rare steaks we ordered were medium to medium rare. Not great for $50. Limited and overpriced wine selection too. A side of fries for $9 also seemed a bit much.
We stayed in a room at the lodge as there were no tents available. The room was fine with a huge soaker tub, but oddly a small double bed rather than a king or queen when there was space for either. Also the tv didn’t work.
The pool and location are great, but there was no pool service or pool food/snack menu.
So - nothing that couldn’t be improved with more/better trained staff and more attention to detail. And possibly a new chef.
