The staff were wonderful and very friendly. The dinner was amazing and breakfast was vwry good. The bed was the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in of any hotel etc that I have been to. The only thing was the bathroom vent was loaded with dust. Just a little vaccuuming around the vent would help but overall it was a fantastic stay.

I want to start by saying I have never left a negative review for a business, as a business owner myself I know how much difference a review makes. However I feel that I need to, I unfortunately had not seen the Google reviews before booking my stay on hotels.com and after reading so many and seeing just how many mention cleanliness being an issue I have come to the conclusion that the ownership simply doesn't care, which as a customer I find unacceptable. Our shower had a large spiderweb in it basically touching the bath tub which leads me to believe that it hadnt been cleaned. Lots of dust and dirt along baseboards and window sills, garbage around the outside of the cabin including someone's beverage glass but where I truly saw lack of care was in the restaurant. The floors appeared to have not been swept in weeks, the crack between the window and floor was FULL of crumbs and dead bugs, paper menus were dirty with stuck on food. As someone who travels alot I was shocked. It's unfortunate because the service we received from the staff was so good, especially the waitress but this place needs a serious change in either ownership or management because I've stayed in 2 stars that were spotless. There's no excuse for a dirty hotel other than the owner doesn't care if you leave unhappy as long as they got the one stay out of you and they don't want to spend on a better housekeeping situation. It's such a shame because it's such a stunning place that under the right circumstances

We rented a cabin last minute as we came across on a ferry. When we arrived, the cabin was ready, clean and really beautiful. The view was gorgeous from it as well! The washroom amenities were wonderful, I took note of the shampoo brand because we liked it so much. We are breakfast at the on site location and the food was delicious, generously portioned and the service was great! We could not be more pleased with our stay and hope to return.

Could use a spruce up…..

It is showing its age. We stayed in one of the tents near the end of the boardwalk. It’s a long walk with luggage and you need to carry it yourself. No assistance with the luggage. Not all the blinds worked properly, it was a tent so we could accept that. The used contacts on the bathroom floor and the mascara on the pillow case were harder to overlook. Thankfully it was a beautiful sunny day when we arrive so we could enjoy the views from our deck. Not worth the price tag for the tents but the location was spectacular.

basic stay

Lovely location & view, attentive staff, and complimentary kayaks were definite pluses. However, we didn’t feel this was value for money. Granted, it was a holiday weekend, but 500+ CAD for a hotel room (we stayed in an ocean view room) that, like other reviewers mentioned, is more like a motel than a resort, felt really steep.

Booked a deluxe oceanview cabin for 2 nights with a king sized bed. Was quite surprised when I entered our room and there was two queen beds. The company’s website and Expedia website both confirm I booked a room with one king bed and nowhere on either site does it mention the possibility of two queen beds instead of a king sized bed. Brought this to the staffs attention and was basically told yes we are aware of it and the website needs to be updated. Staff was supposed to talk to management and offer us a discount or something and nobody ever reached out. Furthermore the “oceanview” we booked was laughable you could barely make out the ocean thru all the trees. I admit there was two or three cabins that did offer a great ocean view just not ours. It appears the company took pictures from their “best” cabin to post on their website. Very misleading and deceiving. Rooms on the outside are beautiful but a lot to be desired in the inside. Also there is a terrible smell that fills the whole cabin from the septic system. I asked to switch rooms and was told nothing else was available. Very disappointing and will not be back which is too bad because the location is beautiful and has so much potential.

The property is beautiful. Unfortunately, there was a large wedding occurring at the same time I was there so the resort was busier than usual and I felt I didn't get the same service that I'd been used to on vacations past. There were disruptions to the stay due to the wedding including the main restaurant on site being close for the afternoon/evening so we had to leave to get food. When we came back, there was very little parking so we had to park quite far away from our suite. As well, the wedding was extremely loud and went on from about 3-10pm with lots of hooting, hollering and loud music. I'm not opposed to a party - but this wasn't what I expected since Rockwater has always advertised itself as a place of peace and tranquility. I would have loved being informed at the time of booking so that I could have decided if I wanted to spend my Sunday night amidst the revellers. There were some maintenance issues in the tenthouse itself which we informed the staff about - just wear and tear but it was impacting certain aspects of the stay and forcing us to improvise which I didn't expect from a 5-star resort. I also didn't expect coffee mate with my morning coffee so be prepared to bring your own cream if you prefer the real thing! The setting IS beautiful and the amenities are lovely. Great pool and pool deck, great ocean swimming with a floating dock in a beautiful little cove. Management offered a one night stay at a later date as recompense for the inconvenience.

This is a hidden gem, incredibly great stay, staff were so friendly and accommodating, especially Zayn at reception. The pool and rooms were clean and the grounds were lovely to walk around, especially the ‘boardwalk’. A lot of effort has gone in to updating an older property, we will stay here again.

Staff were great, and the area is beautiful. Some things were a little dated, but well maintained. The only downer of the trip was the weather, but obviously that's not the hotel's fault. We'd happily stay again.

Pros: Absolutely beautiful setting. Boardwalk is all lit up and rheres lots of areas to explore plus the kayaking. Pool was the perfect size and the pool area balcony looks out into a one of a kind backdrop. Staff are super friendly and accommodating Cons: parking is next to non existant, especially for a truck. The rooms are outdated and the room we were in had a window that did not open and no air flow plus no AC. Restaurant was mediocre at best. Waited an hour for bacon and eggs that were average and overpriced. Canceled Dinner and went into town cause if they screwed up eggs, i wasnt gonna trust em with steak. Front desk closed early and wasnt open at 730am when we needed to check out.
