Property and views are beautiful. The rooms are fine, but need to be cleaned better. We had two rooms, and there were ants in both bathrooms and showers. Dust balls and hair clumps in the corners and behind furniture. Limited menu in the restaurant was something to be desired, and the prices for such was just too high. Employees were helpful and attentive.

This hotel is one of 2 properties under the same ownership in Death Valley Park. The other property is the Ranch. I ended up staying at the Inn, because I was denied my reservation at the Ranch by an incredibly rude front desk person by name of Steven Sunderland. Since the properties are both owned by the same management, I will leave my review here. We live in difficult times when good staff are hard to find. Unfortunately Xterra (the owner company) has hired someone quite dangerous to their business. In the span of 20 minutes young Steven succeeded in violating about 10 US and CA laws and statutes , most notably the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as well as Tom Bane Act (possible penalty $25,000) as well as tried to steal $300+ from me by discriminating against my physical disability, canceling my room and not refunding the money. He then primised to refund the money if I called hotels dot com. I am a gold status memeber, so I left and did call hotels dot com. The customer service representative then called the hotel (while I was listening on the call), Steven then proceeded to lie to the customer service rep (on the recorded line). To Xterra management - this person Steven is going to create a big legal trouble for you one day. You may also want to consider general training for your employees on non-discrimination laws in the US and CA. I have no complaints about the Inn, the staff there did not discriminate based on my disability and I had a nice stay.

Overall, we would definitely consider staying here again. The main draw is the 4th floor star-viewing terrace. What a wonderful idea! And yes, we took advantage of it. The staff here, from the front desk to the housekeepers, were wonderful. Everyone is eager to help. Three small notes to take into account, in case they matter to you- no microwave, NO internet in the rooms, although definitely available in the public areas (which the hotel states up-front), and this just struck me as easily remedied- the public coffee bar kept running out of coffee- as in multiple times over an hour. Seems like they could simply put out 2 or more canisters to avoid the all-or-nothing scenario.

Loved staying here! It was so convenient to all the sights. The rooms were really comfortable and I slept great. There was a really cute star gazing deck to check out in the evenings and there was lots to explore on the grounds. The food for dinner was just meh though. My husband liked his steak but my $40 pasta was a disappointing and overcooked. Breakfast was expensive but good and there is free coffee, which was appreciated! The service made up for the lackluster food. Everyone was ridiculously nice.

The property is location at a very central location within a few minutes of driving distance from several major must-see park attractions. The secluded location with mountains in the backdrop gives it a somewhat of a fairytale ambience. The restaurant menu was very limited (due to COVID as I understood) and more than a little overpriced. But the friendly wait staff somewhat made up for it. The front desk and Martina, the concierge, were also very friendly and helpful. Overall, this is a great location. Pricey, but well worth the money. The grounds are fabulous and well maintained. The common areas (reception, library, bar, restaurant) are all newly renovated very inviting. Highly recommend the Casita rooms. Spacious sleeping area, a kitchenette, a cozy living room and a private patio, all make for a memorable stay.

Some of the staff were really fantastic like Kyle, the manager and Cheryl, the wait staff while one woman at the front desk was just unhelpful. The place was short staffed so there were not enough wait staff and the menu was limited because they had difficulty getting cooks. One outstanding chef would help would give it a 3-4 star status. We loved the pool and enjoyed sitting on the terrace in the evening. Our room was nice. The experience of the park was amazing.

Per Hotels.com, check-in is at 3:00. We arrived at 3:00 and we were told check-in is at 4:00 so come back then and room will be ready. We came back at 4:15, and room was still not ready and had to wait another 50 minutes!

Beautiful property in beautiful spot. Service suffered from staffing shortages. food choices extremely limited, bell staff often not available. Had a fabulous time.

We were happy to stay at this historical hotel. Our room was a good size room and the patio in front of it was amazing. However, arriving at the hotel during the night left us confused as we were trying to find the lobby/ registration. Once we checked in, finding our room was also a difficult task. Walking during the night on the property is not easy as there are many areas with no light or very limited lights. Also, signage is not clear and could be improved.
