The managers were accommodating, and the lodge bartender - Colleen was great. We mostly stayed in the Lodge bar because we had to charge our phones there and it was too cold and dark to go to our cocoon except to hopefully fall asleep as fast as possible.
I thought the Cocoons would be like glamping. NOT THE CASE. It is literally a big beach ball tent suspended from cables, with a 1" plywood floor and a mattress. There are no lockers or ANY storage for suit cases, cloths, coolers, etc. We lived out of our car and just slept in the Cocoon with no electricity and no heater, with temps getting down into the low 40's. It was worse than camping because we were not prepared, and at a price of $200/night. Plus it was 75 yards from the busy highway and busy freight train tracks that have 6 to 8 loud trains a night. We knew we were in trouble when they gave have us ear plugs at check in. We tried to upgrade to a cabin or dome, but they were booked, and they said NO refunds, 1 month before check-in.
After exhaustion and begging, finally on our 4th night, they were able to put us in a cabin for 1 night, which was much better, and then we checked out a day early. The managers did give a $40/night discount, but still too high for the accommodations, and we had to pay for coffee every morning. They also decided to not charge us for the night we did not use.
I really feel that Stanton was not upfront about these accommodation when I booked and feel duped.
