It looked like it was under construction, it looked nothing like the pictures. The aircon in our room was not working and we were booked in a superior room facing the sun, so it was hot.

Important improvements necessary

All rooms should have bar fridges so the visitors don't have to ask for ice at reception. The shower has no hot water at all or takes. Long for hot water to heat up.

We had a disappointing stay for 1 the water in our room was cold in d eving only hot in the morning. The cleaning lady we had an encounter with was rude and unfriendly which led to an argument. But management was great in resolving the issue. Otherwise that was the first and last time we booked that hotel.

Disasterfront Hotel and Spa

Misleading and really sad that the hotel which is in prime location, is just pathetically being allowed into ruin. Booked a family room for my colleague as a 30th birthday gift. imagine my dismay. The hotel did not have a family room available, as they are apparently being refurbished. pax was given a standard room with a COT for the 4 year old child! it does not end there... the aircons in the room were also not working. Saturday 22 Feb - the weather recorded at over 31 degrees celcius, with no aircon. the saddest part is that absolutely no service recovery was done. i will NEVER send anybody to this hotel again. EVER! What was supposed to have been a lovely 30th birthday celebration, was marred by the hotels dissinterest.

the Waterfront to the rescue

I had a booking at Mthonjeni Residence and Café, but the neighbourhood was just to scary to get out of the car, had to find another hotel fast on Hotel.com and the service in helping me out was excellent at the Waterfront

DONT EVEN BOTHER!!!

It was terrible, Service at front desk was appalling!!! Didn't have my booking number and refused point blank to even try and assist. Even when showing a copy of the booking confirmation that it was paid they still refused to help

The hotel itself is very nice. We unfortunately arrived and the key maker was down so we never received keys. We had to be escorted to our rooms when we needed. We also had a lot of luggage and asked for a luggage trolley/cart so we could bring it all up to the room and that was met with a little bit of confusion. In the end they brought an actual freight trolley even though we could see a luggage cart in the window. That was fine though. On the second day, our shower or faucet did not work. No cold water. So we couldn't shower. We also asked for a late checkout (check out is 10 and we were hoping for 12:30) and were told 11 was the latest they could do. Normally I totally understand that that is not always possible. But if there were 10 other guests in the hotel, I'd be surprised. So the fact that there wasn't room for us to have a late check out with a very empty hotel seemed odd to me. We also had a paid a little extra for an ocean view. We did sort of get it but it was definitely a low floor and from the side. So mostly our view was of the parking lot.

Amazing staff, amazing service but lacks rules

We arrived and the front desk was very helpful. We however had to wait to book it which is normal but gave us enough time to explore Durban. Food was amazing and service. The thing that was most unpleasant was the fact that we were unable to sleep due to noisy neighbors who were playing loud music all night long. For some reason the walls were thin but no rules were in place for guests playing loud music and partying in the rooms. The staff were very kind and very helpful. Would have been one of our many great stays if it were not for the thin walls and if there were rules against partying and playing loud music in rooms. This made it feel more like a motel than a hotel.
