Perhaps my new favorite hotel in the world there is nothing negative I can say about the Megaron. We were there twice for a few days each and they went above and beyond. The landmark building faces the sea and our rooms had balconies to help enjoy it. High ceilings, quality fixtures, a spacious room and blackout curtains if you felt like sleeping late (we didn’t). Easy private parking leads up to the luxurious public space and for some reason the same dog was sleeping at the entrance our entire stay.
Check in was easy and we were made to feel welcome. The staff is extraordinarily helpful and friendly with a special shout out to Irena, whose efficient positive energy made breakfast perfection and our several little requests seemed to be her pleasure to fulfill. Afternoon tea setup in our room when we’d return, little pastries sprinkled about, slippers and those charming little towels on the floor by the bed so your feet don’t track anything in - five stars and then some.
We arrived early in the morning so our room was not ready. Rather than sit and wait the concierge called around to find a winery that was open and we went off exploring some fine Cretan wine.
You could not ask for a better location, nor a better hotel. I’d return to Crete just to stay there again.
