Cant really say how the Gem was, but greatly appreciated the upgrade to their sister hotel next door. The wonderful reception gal next door was super compassionate and kind to us when we missed our flight due to our pcr result not coming back in time. Anyway, at least the Gem took responsibility for the overbooking. It showed open on Hotels.com and so we booked it.
However, we were very unhappy that they closed the only restaurant for both hotels at 6 p.m. Ridiculous! If you are overbooked, why not open your restaurant and bar? We had to walk pretty far to get dinner, because the only other close place, the Plywood Bar, was also closed on Monday. Hotel knows that, should stay open at least that night for its own guests, especially as they were full. Made no sense whatsoever, you couldnt even get a drink past 6, though the dinner gal there was super nice and made us a quick one one night anyway. But if you want people to come back, keep your restaurant and bar open at least for normal dinner hours! Do I hear 7:30?
