It started on a left foot.
The lady at reception was anything but friendly. When asked if I could get an upgrade, since my room was facing the air con ducts and service room, she was quite rude.
I was told the hotel was at 100% capacity, I was given a room with sea view for an extra €117 per night. For my dates that was the best she could do. The all conversation was a bit sour. Later I wondered if I had been somehow rude and she was responding accordingly.
On check out however, I saw her checking in some other clients and the attitude was still there, rude and not friendly, kept repeating to the clients that she had already told them that there was an extra bed in the room. Wow..this lady should not be welcoming guests at all.
Then I called room service and upon telling them that I'm vegetarian, I asked for a cheese and lettuce sandwich. I was given a ham and cheese sandwich and a plate of frozen French fries for which I was charged €6.
As for the sandwich, I didn't even get an apology.
The garden is not very well kept. The banana trees by the pool are full of dead leaves, and the planters around the edge of the rooms are full of dead and grown weeds.
The rest of the staff was pleasant and professional and the room was spacious and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom had nice Chopard amenities.
Th location is great to walk on the promenade and a short walk to the centre of Cascais.
