Our room was as big as a closet. Did not represent the pictures on the website. We asked to have our room close to our children’s room and it was in a totally separate building.

I can’t understand how Fairmont allows their brand to be associated with this property. It fails to meet any of the Fairmont traditional standards. To start with the room, extremely small at over $600 a night. Would guess about 250 square feet. So exceptionally poor value. Ordered room service this morning. It showed up in a basket with cardboard boxes holding my omelette and side of smoked salmon. Boxes almost identical to those that fast food operations provide their take-out food in. Already cold by the time it was delivered. And my coffee cup was cardboard. Last night I returned to the hotel after dinner. To find that there was not one single available parking slot on the property. I circled for 20 minutes hoping someone would leave, but no luck. No staff on duty at check-in and no valet. So I ended up parking on a side street three blocks away. A side street with no street lights and on the walk back to the hotel, I tripped on a curb in the complete darkness and did a face plant. Thought I had broken my nose and front teeth and blood everywhere. I’ve just returned to the hotel after a full day touring, only to find housekeeping had not been to my room. I called the front desk and was told housekeeping only does the rooms every second day. Not what I’m used to for $600+ a night. So truly one of the most disappointing hotel experiences I have ever had. And certainly my one and only time staying here.

Overall a lovely property but very dated fro the excessive costs of 2 nights. Over valued for sure, ridiculous extra charges for using the spa pool on top of a resort fee. Room was small, overwhelming smell of dog the entire time. This hotle is a 3 star at best. Lovely grounds and outdoor seating was good to relax . Glad we had the weather for outdoors but if you were stuck inside due to weather you would be very dissppointed. On our first night we went to the Bar 38 and I asked for a Pinot and my wife asked for a sparkling water. The bar tender "cheekily" says we have 2 pinots first is $20 a glass and our alternate is $35 a glass. This is outragous , we came from Four Seasons in Hawaii recently and there was numerous lovely wines for rates between $12-24 a glass which is about average. Its not Four Seasons

We decided to stay here for a weekend wedding in Sonoma. I had stayed here once before with a friend and was very pleased with the accommodations. I was excited to come back! The property is beautiful and the champagne welcome was lovely. Although the room was clean, the hallway smelled like old cigarette smoke. The air conditioner did not function well and we were forced to open up a window at night to cool the room down. We did not sleep well as there were noises outside. Not a big deal but the coffee maker did not work because the outlet strip was out. We just plugged it in elsewhere. Before we left for the evening we called room service for towels, tp, and more coffee pods for the morning. When we arrived at our room late at night nothing was done. We had no coffee in the morning and had to share a towel. We expected an exceptional experience with a Fairmont hotel, especially the amount of money we spent to stay here! Unfortunately we felt like we should’ve just stayed in town with everyone else that raved about their boutique hotels at much lower rates. Probably one of the most offensive things that happened is I received a text asking for my feedback on how our stay was. When I responded with the information above…this is the response I received: Thank you for being the best part of the Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa! We hope to welcome you back to wine country soon. Really? I guess their idea is just to ignore a dissatisfied guest.

The staff was less than efficient and the amenities were few. We were told we would be called or texted when our room was ready and we weren't. We were in the area for two hours waiting. The check in staff served a glass of champagne on arrival to some guests checking in but not to all. The room service was delivered but not on a tray and with paper cups. We had to request a fan for our room twice before one was brought up. For the price of the stay we were expecting something different even while following virus protocol. Very disappointing.

We stayed in a Mission Suite room. It was beautiful. All of the staff at the hotel treated us like royalty and really went out of their way to take care of us with every request we had. The only complaint we had really, was that our suite backed up to a trailer park and the neighbors were whistling and cat calling at my girlfriend which made her uncomfortable. There is some vegetation, but not much to give you a sense of seclusion or privacy. The balcony opens up to the gardens, but the door to enter opens up to the trailer park.

After quite some long wait, upon check-in there was some 'confusion', as the hotel described, we ended up being checked in later than the guests after us. They apologized, insisted their following 'first come first served' rule, and left messages inviting me to talk to the manager. Nice gesture but I would rather spend my remaining time enjoying the vacation instead of keeping going back to the upset feelings. The heated pool is really nice and pretty clean. There were just the right amount of pool loungers to feel lively but not over crowded. Restaurant serves delicious food with reasonable prices for a 4-5 stars resort. The room is smaller than we expected but clean. It's a bit out dated and carries a mixture of age and sanitizer smell. Staff inside the hotel are polite friendly and cheerful. Overall it was a relaxing and pleasant stay, as long as I consciously keep my mind away from the checkin part!
