This appears to be under renovation. A work crew was there during the day & there is construction debris in some areas... like old AC units in the side stairwell.
The whole building is 2-tone grey now, looks nicer than the picture, & the rooms have been updated recently.
We stayed 2 nights. This was the 2nd cheapest hotel in town had widely varied reviews. It was better than I expect, but still a bit rough around the edges. The lobby, breakfast area & room were clean & looked nice. There were odd smells in some areas of the hallway, but nowhere else.
I love that the floor is easy to mop to clean between guests.
The internet, fridge, microwave, tv, AC, hair dryer, sink, shower, toilet... everything worked as it should. The linens, towels, wash cloths were all clean. The mattresses & pillows appeared to be fairly new.
Breakfast was a typical light continental each morning with a waffle maker, fresh fruit, bagels, muffins, cereals, milk, juices, coffee, & a crock pot with scrambled eggs (which never seemed to get fully warm). Nicer than I expected for the price of the hotel, relative to other options in town.
The hotel is at an interstate exit that has some homeless people begging & roaming around, which is common in Charlotte. We didn't feel unsafe, but my daughter stayed with me at all times just in case. It's no 5 star, but I'd stay there again.
