Pleasant hotel, very central. Only real problem was at breakfast, the warm food was barely warm. The plates were stone cold and the hot food was luke warm. The food was okay. Asked a member of the kitchen staff, but he didn't speak Norwegian or English.

Excellent hotel in a lovely location by the harbour. Staff were excellent and very helpful. Both breakfast and free evening buffet were delicious. Hotel also has free tea and coffee Stations and afternoon waffles. Highly recommend this hotel and would definitely return.
Overall I was very happy. The location is excellent, the beds very comfortable, the rooftop jacuzzi a lovely treat, They staff very friendly, and all the food was delicious (and shockingly included in the room rate)! The negatives: cleanliness in rooms could be improved. They forgot to clean my room a day and the other days when they did clean it was perfunctory (didn’t replace empty tissues or toilet roll, didn’t vacuum), no towels in the spa area, no in room safe which is pretty standard, and no one ever answers the phone when you call reception. Finally, my room door came off a hinge (how?!) upon return from a northern lights chase at 3:30 am and we couldn’t figure out why the door wouldn’t close properly. While the hotel staff said someone would fix it the next morning, no one ever came to do so and when I inquired the following evening, was told the handy man would’t be in until the next day (Monday). I should have been told that without having to ask and they should have switched my room. They did offer but only after I inquired and at that point it was late evening / not worth packing my stuff up for one last night. One more thing to note, you have to swipe the key to lock the door when you leave. This is an unusual feature on a hotel room and it would be helpful if they point that out at check in. We did not realise that feature for two days and were leaving the door unlocked.

Very friendly staff. Great location. Access to tea coffee water all day. Food all in, breakfast, waffle's and Eve meal. The waffles you make yourself but there was only one waffle maker, another waffle maker would have been perfect! Limited clothing storage in our room but was fine for us as we only stayed for 3 nights. I would highly recommend this hotel and Tromso as we really enjoyed our stay.

We enjoyed our stay at the hotel. The staff was nice and helpful.The room was clean. Breakfast and dinner were alright.The hot tub outside and the view was excellent.

We checked out and left our luggage in the luggage room for a few hours. The hotel staff then mistakenly put it on a coach going to the airport with another group of people. When we went to get our luggage from the room they told us it must have been stolen, which was very distressing. We left our contact details with the staff and left to fly home to the UK with no luggage. The next day I spent all morning on the phone to my insurance company arranging a claim. I also had to contact Tromso police to register it as a crime. Then I called the hotel to ask them a question about the insurance claim and they casually told me "Oh, your luggage is here actually". It had been returned on the coach the night before and no one had bothered to contact me to tell me. WHY did the hotel not have the common decency to call me the night before once my luggage was returned?? This would have saved me a lot of distress and wasted time. The manager was very rude on the phone and said my luggage was my problem and he will not take responsibility for losing it. I think a hotel should be organised enough to have a system whereby they can keep track of luggage and not lose it through sheer incompetence and disorganisation. It has now been over a week since they lost our luggage and IT STILL HASN'T COME BACK. Meanwhile, I have had to purchase new make up, new make up brushes, new clothes and a pair of shoes because of this. THEIR MISTAKE HAS COST ME SO MUCH MONEY!

Great reception and dinning room staff. Housekeeping was hit and miss depending on staffing levels, twice came late afternoon and had to decline as trying to chill out. Also we are room 327 and everyday and night two large dirty linen cages stored by room. Also avoid this room as noisy from traffic and very dark.

Clean room, comfortable bedding, efficient housekeeping. Plenty to choose from for breakfast, excellent spread, afternoon waffles, a treat. Light evening meals more than adequate. Would like give a special mention to Frederic who works in the dining hall. He was always pleasant, polite, efficient and happy to have a quick chat. He does made our stay special. What a fine young man and truly an asset to Clarion hotel. We’re very happy to return and stay again. Felisa and Trish
