We were pleased to get any accomodation at a reasonable price for the bournemouth air festival weekend, so this was a postive- especially as we booked at very late notice. If we had to jusge the hotel on its own merits though, we did find it pretty disappointing. The immpressive foyer is a bit deceiving because the corridors and room itself was all very dated, ill-maintained, shabby and, tbh, really grubby. My bed linen was stained and when if i moved the fan or lamp to one side it reveaved strange greasing dirt circles on the surfaces beneath. We also had no power sockets within reach of the bed, and the only 2 in the bedroom itself were needed to power the tv and the fan. It was nice to have an ensuite bathroom but unfortunatley we didnt feel able to use the bath or shower for fear of emerging grubbier than when we went in! The tub was horribly stained and cracked as were the tiles surrounding it- which were actually crumbling from the walls in places. The ancient toilet roll holding mechanism on the wall was broken and sprung open on one side causing the tissue to slide off onto the floor at regular intervals. The springs and levers inside were also clogged with what must have been years worth of greasy brown dust and grime of the sort you really dont want to associate with sanitary toileting! We opted to use the spare toilet paper on the shelf instead. Overall, fine if youre down with the youth hostel vibe, but if you expect more, dont be fooled by first impressions!
