The Spencer continues to offer unrivaled 4 star service in Dublin City Center. The pool and health club are great and this is a much nicer property than the other "four stars" at a similar price point.

We were really disappointed with our stay at The Spencer Hotel. We didn't find out, until we arrived that the spa facilities were all closed. However, we weren't too disappointed as we were told that we could still use the pool. It wasn't until we went to use the pool that we were then told that actually you had to pre book it and there weren't any times available apart from 6.30am... this was a little more disappointing. (Even more due to the fact the pictures of our room online had shown a bath, and our room we were in didn't even have that). Later in the evening we stayed at the hotel for dinner. The food wasn't great and the desert brownies had evidently been taken from a packet and microwaved but 'oh well' we said once again. As our desert plates were cleared, unfortunately the waitress then knocked a full pint of beer over my partner. She was sincerely apologetic and accidents happen.. we wouldn't hold that against her. It would have been nice for a manager to come and offer to take something off the bill though... however no such thing occurred. When we checked out the following morning and were asked 'How was your stay?', I replied 'not great, but ok' and the receptionist just ignored me and chose not to find out any of my concerns/ disgruntlements. Instead she happily charged me for my use of the car park and sent me on my way. Our experience was unfortunate, as the hotel itself looks beautiful and we had been really looking forward to it.

Lovely hotel. Stayed in the junior suite definitely wouldnt book it again. It was quite small. Overall great hotel

Health Club Booked into the "relax zone" of pool area to find out on arrival to leisure club that only the swimming pool is available with jacuzzi, sauna and steam room closed. Pool is divided into two lanes with gym users looking to swim lengths mixed with those looking to relax. Pool is 1.3m all over, not very enjoyable for those who cannot swim. Bar Area Firstly, restaurant staff were fantastic for the evening meal. Bar staff was a different story for us. We were assigned a member of staff who was in training but also had a difficult time understanding english and even more difficulty speaking it. Our orders were delayed for up to 15 minutes while this member of staff was finding their feet on the till system to which on more than one occasion, we then received the wrong order. After our last drink and on our way to the room, another member of the bar staff jammed their foot in the elevator door to inform us the final drink payment was not completed. Ignoring the rudeness of this staff members actions, we paid the "outstanding" balance to then realise later by viewing online banking that the order was paid for twice. New employee forget to clear the table on till system? I think so. A phone call to our room informing us of the "outstanding" payment is how a hotel of this standard should be training their bar staff. Room Hotel is tired looking in places with room carpet not hoovered before arrival & balcony with previous guests cigarettes on ground and in ash tray.
