The good
Gardens and grounds - were beautiful and in excellent condition
Breakfast- good selection and quality
Breakfast and The Bar Man staff - friendly happy to help always smiling
The unacceptable
Shower plumbing- bursts of boiling hot water - even when the hot water was not turned on - a major safety issue - having to wash with a wet towel in a five star hotel - appalling
Over all cleanliness- common areas - dirty windows, cob webs
Reception and Room Staff attitude- disinterested- not over worked not understaffed as they did the bare minimum
The missed opportunities
- Dated (not in theme with the manor) furniture that didn’t allow guests to utilise the common spaces effectively - not enough seating
- Beautiful gardens with flowers and foliage - 1 vase of fresh foliage in the hotel - only flowers was artificial
- room styling and furniture - IKEA is not five star
The hotel had informed us prior to arrival re no wait staff for dinner - not an issue we worked around it - we have stayed at the hotel several years ago and aside from the gardens doesn’t appear any money has been spent on maintenance since we stayed last time - upon departure from reading reviews plumbing has been an issue for 4 years - such a shame - shame on Mantra for allowing what was once a great hotel - become a not funny Faulty Towers
