The hotel is new, clean and in an excellent location. Bed was comfortable and room amenities spot-on. Unfortunately, the food/beverage at on-site Belvedere cafe service lacks the same quality. We chose the breakfast-inclusive pack, which included a-la carte menu, but any deviation from the menu caused problems for the staff. All my wife wanted was eggs on toast, but that was not on the menu. So I asked for bacon and eggs on toast but remove the bacon and replace it with tomato. This was allowed but I was told I would be charged for adding the tomato, even though I had removed the bacon and what I was ordering was still much cheaper for them to prepare than if I had gone with eggs Benedict. The morning before, my wife ordered the mushrooms & avo on rye. When it turned up, the avo had so much oil added to it that the rye bread was soggy. All up, not a good breakfast experience and we went elsewhere the third morning.
Upon checkout we were in fact not charged for the extra item, but it was the confusion and aggravation that got us off to a bad start, and hopefully it is a learning experience for the Belvedere staff.
