Stayed at the Leaf several times now from the old remarda days until recently, never had a bad experiences but the last 2 occasions i have noticed a marked improvement across the whole hotel.

We checked in late and didnt get the warmest of welcomes. We were assigned a family room even though we booked a double room. Walking to the room was like walking through a war zone. The hallway has panels missing of the roof, wires hanging down, building dust covering everything. When we arrived at the room it looked nothing like the pictures. It was dark, dated and filthy. Marks all over the walls, stains on the bed runner, sticky desk and even the remote was missing the batteries. We complained and was moved to a new room. The different was like night and day. The new rooms are lovely and comfortable but very warm with no AC. What annoyed us was why we were not assigned a new room in the first place. The receptionist explained the hotel is in the middle of a renovation but the hotel was very quiet so why was we assigned a room in the middle of a building site? Overall a disappointing stay and the leaf (or soon to be Holiday Inn) would not be on the top of my list after this experience.

Bright airy hotel, room was well appointed. Staff were pleasant. The chef in charge at breakfast couldn't have been any more helpful to fulfil .our needs. All food throughout our stay was first class especially the Hake.
