Old hotel. There were electricity problems. I booked for two nights and one night the electricity was only available in the bathroom. Wifi didn't work. Toilet didn't work properly, bath tub couldn't hold the water.. With the pool they said they had climate control.. but it was freezing. Food at the restaurant gave me stomach problems. The price for this "hotel" should be $40 the most.

Good hotel which matched expectations. Greag location for walking everywhere of immediate interest. Staff terrific.

WARNING - The Taxi Driver of this Hotel identified with the number TSJ288, terminal ID G0029315 set me up and charged in my credit card US$3,000 instead of 3,000 Colones. He said he was charging colones. If you decide to stay at this hotel, AVOID TAKING ANY SERVICE WITH THEIR TAXI DRIVERS

The Hotel is obviously a hit with holiday makers about to go off to or coming back from their adventures in the Costa Rican hinterland and it is convenient for business travellers with meetings in San Jose. But it is "tired" in appearance and a little over-priced for breakfast. My biggest bug-bear is no water available in the room, either free or for sale. My booking also said I'd get a mini-bar (possibly with water in it) in my room, but I didn't!

Great location. Great amenities. We were warned of walking around after dark but went out early evening to recommended restaurant the beer factory and it was excellent. Uber home. Easy. Then walked around next day to see local sights. Parks are beautiful! US dollars taken almost everywhere but English in some places not available.

left for an excursion early in the morning and realized I had left my retainer on the cabinet. I called to make sure the cleaners were made aware and to not assume it was trash. Unfortunately this was not enough and was thrown away. While mistakes happen, the hotel made showed little effort to follow up with housekeeping and made no apology for the incident. Rooms where fine, and the beds where comfortable. Room service was disappointing. Order was wrong on both nights food was ordered.

Nice hotel with many amenities. In good condition and clean. With five stars I would have expected better concierge service (they did not have a city map or information about tours or sights). Just referred us to the GreyLine desk in the lobby. Also no place to buy newspapers or other small items often needed by guests. Enjoyed the pianist playing in the lobby. The upstairs restaurant had a nice view but prohibitive spices. Perhaps for this reason, it was empty.

Located in central San Jose with many options within walking distance. Rooms are clean enough but the hotel is starting to show its age. Another problem I've experienced is that the front desk wants to charge you $70 to allow a visitor into the hotel, and they make the assumption that ANY visitor is a prostitute. Imagine telling your friend they think she's a prostitute!...It's awkward and embarrassing. It's also shameful on the hotel management's part that the desk staff are trained to do this with all visitors, and clearly they're OK with prostitutes being there, so long as they get their $70. So don't judge me or my friend when it's actually Holiday Inn San Jose that's engaging in the morally questionable practice of taking $70 from anyone that isn't on your initial room reservation. Eres no mejor que las putas para a cagar $70 para los visitantes. Because of this, I doubt I'll be returning to this hotel.
