Historic Fourth Ward Park is a popular greenspace in the Old Fourth Ward where you'll find 17 acres of outdoor fun and activities. Kids and adults alike can find plenty of things to do, so don't hesitate to take the whole family along for your visit.

Most of the time, people spend about an hour or 2 at this park, but if you want to take part in all the activities it has to offer, your visit could easily turn into an all-day affair. Any events held here can extend your visit as well.

Historic Fourth Ward Park highlights

One of the most iconic parts of Historic Fourth Ward Park is the lake. Spanning 2 acres, this lake offers an alluring aesthetic to the area that you can enjoy, thanks to the walking path around it. The lake even comes equipped with an aerator fountain that prevents any stagnation, so the water is always crystal clear.

Numerous activities are available here that the whole family can enjoy. The Splash Pad is especially popular with kids on hot summer days, though you can enjoy the biking paths anytime you want. They lead to the Eastside Trail if you want to explore the area further.

Good to know when visiting Historic Fourth Ward Park

Historic Fourth Ward Park has several convenient amenities, so do your best to use them as needed. Numerous trash and recycling tins are set up around the park, along with doggie waste bags, so it's expected that you do what you can to keep the park clean.

Visiting this park will put you close to several other fun attractions in the city. On the southeastern corner of the park, you'll find a path that takes you to a skatepark. If you're interested in history, you can trek a short distance to the east to reach the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library and Museum.
