    Trikora Beach

Rent a cabana and go for a relaxing swim

Trikora Beach may be the most popular stretch of coastline on Bintan Island, but you can still find plenty of places for tranquillity. It consists of 4 separate beach sections, each with its own unique charm and scene for a great time under the sun. Visit the local fishing village to see the stilt houses built by hard-working fishermen or stop by one of the makeshift shacks selling delicious treats like seaweed dodol.

Rent a cabana to spend the entire day sunbathing on the white sands or go snorkelling to see native marine life. The nearby Trikora Beach Club and Resort is a great choice if you’re looking for a sumptuous stay on the eastern coast of the island.

Snorkel in crystalline waters or explore by kayak

White Sands Island (locally known as Pulau Beralas Pasir) is a private island just a 15-minute boat ride from the famous Trikora coast. The island’s spotless shores shine brightly in the sunshine and the turquoise waters are perfect for a relaxing swim. There are activities available for all ages, ranging from snorkelling adventures to competitive beach sports. Sunfish Cove is a popular jump-off point for thrilling scuba diving excursions to witness the colourful marine life below the surface.

If you want to make a difference, take part in a baby turtle release programme to protect the species. Save Our Seas is one local programme that aims to preserve the environment by hosting beach cleanups.

    Lagoi Beach

Take a stroll along the promenade and enjoy a savoury meal

Lagoi Beach is the only public beach in Bintan Resorts, a fine stretch of coastline lined with beautiful palm trees. This 3.5-km strip of white sand is right beside the vibrant Plaza Lagoi. With a cosmopolitan flair, it’s no surprise that Lagoi Beach is one of the busiest on Bintan Island.

Walk down the promenade that lines the beach for fantastic views of the South China Sea. Fine-dining establishments, designer shops and lively bars decorate the strip, offering lively entertainment. The immaculate beach is what keeps visitors coming back to Lagoi and nothing beats sinking your toes in the sand, kayaking in the sea or playing a rousing game of volleyball.

There are many hotels, restaurants, shops and cafés nearby that offer countless dining options and entertainment during your stay.

    Sekera Beach

Swim or kayak in the shallow waters of this tranquil setting

Sekera Beach (or Pantai Sekera to the locals) has long-stretches of shallow waters, which makes it a favourite for swimming and kayaking right off the coast. For upwards of 100 metres off the shoreline, the shallow depth remains and is great for those who may be wary of going into deeper waters. The beach is right along the beautiful north-west coast of Bintan Island and treats visitors to breathtaking sunny seascapes. In particular, the orange and amber skies at sunset provide a fabulous backdrop to your leisurely strolls.

There are lots of benches for a picnic, a playground for the children and restaurants nearby for a tasty meal. It's common to spot local families relaxing on the shore here, enjoying a friendly weekend getaway.

    Pondok Santai Family

Soak up the sun and lush tropical surroundings

A 10-minute drive along Bintan Island’s eastern coast separates Pondok Santai Family from the popular Trikora Beach. This alternative destination is noted for its clear water, gleaming white sands and comfy cottages. Towering palm trees sway in the breeze and wooden piers give you an excellent view of the sea.

The beach is effectively managed by placing nets in the water to prevent waste from reaching the shore. This barrier also keeps swimmers and snorkellers safe while enjoying the beach’s serenity. The beach can get rather crowded at weekends, but it can be nearly deserted during the weekdays. The beach is a 10-minute walk from the Bintan Cabana Beach Resort, where you can have astonishing terrace views throughout your stay.

Grab a freshly squeezed drink or a local snack before lounging on the glistening white sands. The beach is within walking distance from the 300-hectare resort but can be surprisingly difficult to find. A simple request from the Eco-Village guard can help put you in the right direction.

This tropical retreat enjoys uninterrupted views of the South China Sea on Bintan’s northern coast and is lined with magnificent coconut palms. The lush greenery and turquoise waters are a gorgeous backdrop for a refreshing swim or taking part in the neighbouring resort’s numerous activities.

    Fishhead Island

Cruise through peaceful waters with a backdrop of sailboats

Fishhead Island is a picturesque island off the southern coast of Bintan, far away from the resorts and popular villages. The secluded island is dwarfed in size by most of its neighbours but feels like a fantasy once you step onto its shores. Beautiful hues of blue radiate in the waters around the island and its narrow stretch of sand.

The most exciting method of reaching the island is by sailboat and it’s not uncommon to be surrounded by boats cruising to other islands in the area. Go fishing while on the boat or bask in the tranquillity of the tropical jungle around the beach.
