2/10 Poor

Check in slow. Building smelt awful life a terrible nursing home. Very dark corridor to room with motion lights that didn’t work half the time. Room bare and dated! Stank and not particularly clean. Blood/ poo on toilet ball. Dog in room next to us that was allowed to be left till gone midnight that barked and scratched at the paper this walls all night keeping us awake. Pool area filthy! Dead bugs everywhere that had clearly been there a while. Staff appeared to tell other off for sitting outside and leaving door open. The area really needed some fresh air in there. Did not use reatuarant and options were limited. Paid 20€ for breakfast that was the most limited we have had in our 10 days holiday over 6 different accommodations. No staff to discuss issues with as language was very limited. That is not a complaint but an observation and we are in France after all. From other places reviews we expected a little quirky and dated which is fine but dirty and smelly is not okay! Advise against using!

Quirky, great place to stay.
Room was clean abd comfortable. Shower room was great and obviously just been refurbished. Restaurant is in a converted barn, great atmosphere, reminded me of a Jacobean banqueting hall. Food excellent and reasonably priced. 35 euros for 4 courses. We were the only English all others were French locals or visitors. Speaks for its self. Give it a try if travelling down to the South of France only 15 minutes from A5.

Hotel was pleasant but needs upgrade of decor. Stay not helped by a guest setting off the smoke alarm at 11.30 pm. Restaurant food and service excellant for dinner. Breakfast only so so .

Hotel is well placed for the Forest and Lac d’Orient. Bedroom was a little tired but the shower room was large and clearly had been updated recently. Room was clean. Restaurant food was good. Main downside for me was the fact that this is on a busy and noisy road.

Did the trick.
Not much to write home about, served a purpose and the vegetable soup in the restaurant was very nice. Need to be aware the nightly rate per dog has increased from €5 to €8.

At the restaurant, they show a particular wine as 2015 produce, which is a very good year. I ordered a half a bottle, believing it is also 2015. However, after opened the bottle, I noticed it was lesser quality wine of 2013 produce. I complained about this to the restaurant staff. To my surprise, I was told that if I ordered a full bottle it would have been 2015 wine, but I ordered only a half bottle, so it was 2013 !!!!! This is a nasty way of making money. People, be warned !!!!

Picturesque stop over in hotel full of character.
We only planned to stop over here but it was a great find and we'll almost certainly be back! The accommodation itself was a little dated but the restaurant and bar were full of character and the local area was picturesque.

Ok for one night en route, otherwise can’t imagine staying any longer. Room tiny, no storage space. Brand new shower cubicle but no hot water, just lukewarm. Hotel in general clean but dated, first impression a musty smell.

The hotel is ideal for a quick stop-over in a longer trip. It is very dated but clean and has nice swimming pool and garden. I found it a bit overpriced but overall we had a nice stay. The area is great, it is very close to the Foret D'orient and its beautiful lake.

Good Value, Older Room
This room was an interesting choice for our last stay before hitting Paris. It is in a rather rural area. The staff speaks almost no English, which works out fine - we paid, they gave us a receipt, and walked us to our room with the big room key. The room is big, a little smelly (the lake is close by, hard to keep humidity out), the bathroom is perfectly clean but tub/sink/toilet were a silly '70s green. Our window opened up the the courtyard which would be good, but there are people talking down there at night and staff leaving from that point, it is a little noisy. There is a TV in the room, we happened to come across "Good Will Hunting" in French and as my boyfriend knows that movie by heart, he thought it was pretty entertaining. There is a pool in the hotel, you can smell it, but we didn't see it. The restaurant downstairs is a must-do. Spectacular food. The waitress didn't speak English but was amazing taking care of the whole restaurant AND ALSO covering the grill that is at the waitress station. She cooks steaks and the local sausages which are very unusual and full of farm flavor. The bar downstairs is cute. Service isn't great but what's new - this is Europe.
