I usually stay at an unnamed 4 star hotel or rent a chalet, each making a most memorable stay in Gstaad. This time, we tried something different and... stayed at Hotel Alphorn. It was a pleasant 3 day stay until the last night where, sitting in the private bar area, 3 drunks became bold and misbehaved. I realized there is no security, no Manager on Duty (she had left for the day) or anybody at the front desk to whom I could report the unruliness of the alcoholics. It surprised me that the hotel would keep serving customers alcohol despite knowing their state of intoxication. I reported the incident to the manager the next day at breakfast who simply said "yes, they had indeed had too much to drink"! Well, thank you very much! Gstaad for me is a place to unwind, to relax, "to get away from it all". I never expected the tension, disgrace and embarrassment I experienced last week. I don't think I will be staying there again..... maybe go back to the paradise environment of the other 4 star hotel.
