I had a drink from the honesty bar in the lounge and waited for dinner on the comfy sofas before the chef alerted me that my food was ready (chicken... with blue cheese and organic local vegetables). One issue during my stay was rain coming heavily through a leaky window in my room at 11.45pm when no staff around. I rang the emergency number in the booklet in the room (hotel landline) for the Duty Manager but I could hear it ring from my room and there was no answer so I didn't try again in case it woke people up. In the morning Reception offered (without me even asking) to only charge for the food/drink and not the room. It's an old building and some windows need replacing. I was due for an operation so couldn't eat breakfast, so they made me a pack up to take. Although I had the issue with the window, due to the professional way this was handled by the hotel, and their flexibility in making me a packed lunch and the cosy atmosphere in the hotel I'm still going to rate this 5*. My recommendation is that the hotel phone after 10pm is diverted to the duty managers mobile so that a) it's within reach to be able to answer, and b) that it doesn't wake up other guests in the middle of the night if called, like ringing the hotel landline does.
