Ok but they handed coupons for breakfast out so I had a cup of coffee in the morning. When I checked out I was charged 12 euro for using the cupon I thought was complimentary No receipt for the 12 e either!

It's only saving grace is proximity to Gare Lyon. There are homeless loitering in the outside doorways, the rooms are very small, the beds sag, the carpets have seen better days. Breakfast is continental and over priced at 9€90. The wifi requires login and is slow to connect and thready when it does.

As advertised - super convenient location. Tiny rooms but bed was good and bathroom perfectly acceptable. Smoky room was really disgusting but I was too tired to move. Only one night so OK. Insist on a real no smoking room and check it out first.

- Unwarming reception - Bed cover was old and awful. It seemed to be very very very dirty - Advertised free WIFI. However, connection was very very very weak from the room. Even sitting in front of the reception where the WIFI was did not help.

Really well located but has small not so significant issues. Basin in the hotel bathroom leaked which annoyed us a bit. They only provided one bath towel for two people which is silly really once you have started your shower. Staff is friendly but provided wrong directions across the city when asked in the morning which meant that we lost some time […] finding our way around the beautiful city of lyon. It is a transit hotel that is conveniently located next to the train station. Good for us as we are just staying a night in Lyon. The draw back is the small size of the room. We are given the corner room and the wifi doesn't seem to reach us. Had to stand close to the room in order to get a connection.

The Hotel Athena is an okay 2-star hotel, which is VERY conveniently located next to Gare Part-Dieu. The rooms are very clean, and the bed is decent (not too firm, but definitely not soft). My biggest complaint is the internet. While free, it is consistently slow (I have stayed here several times, and ALWAYS the same problem: SLOW, to nonexistent internet). […] However, I would probably stay here again. Finding the car park was a problem at this hotel. It worked as a stop over but nothing else. We went to the bar for a night cap but there was nothing there except Port and whisky liquer.

Excellent location, pleasant staff but bedcover was a bit dirty and there was a very loud air-con system that came on automatically and loudly at 4.30 in the morning without any instructions available about how to turn it off or indeed any option other than turning it down.

As I had just one night in Lyon it was good to be located in front of the main train station, but if you look for staying in the center it is not a good location as in the night I did not feel safe to go out. hotel facilities are good and price was good also!

Can not beat the location near train station and tram number one. The bed was too hard for me and the AC did not work. Luckily it was cool and fine with the window open. The guy at the front desk was super friendly and spoke english. The room was very clean but the lounge area needed tidying up. Wifi was intermittent.

Brilliant location for someone on a short break. Room was basic but comfortable and clean. Old Lyon is easily accessible and you are right near the tube and buses/trams. Staff speak English and were very helpful.

you have a real problem with the breakfast. the bread and croissant are very bad quality. May be these are prepared before many days. I prefer to be always in your hotel when I visit Lyon. Please change your boulanger or chek the bread every day.

If you need to catch an early train in the morning, eg. 0550 hours, then this is a good hotel...steps to the station. Small rooms but clean.

The location was perfect. The breakfast was great. It was clean. The only problem was the very noisy air conditioner/heater. Whenever it went on, it woke us right up.

We had a 6am TGV to Paris and wanted to stay somewhere close to the station. This hotel is literally outside the station, about a 5 min walk. There are other hotels near by but this one got the job done for cheap.

The mattress is half broken , one side is totally no support and we request to change the room the other day. Unlucky that the side of the room facing is very closed to the train station. We kept awake because of the noise... well..it's the tradeoff for convenient. Overall, the hotel is clean and is of good value.

A great hotel for those that need to grab an early train but not recommended for an extended stay as the rooms are a bit spartan and the beds of limited comfort. That said, the bathrooms were beautifully updated and quite large for France.

My wife and I stayed at this hotel during a recent vacation to Lyon. It's main attraction is the price and location. It is very reasonable, and right next to Gare Part-Dieu (and the TCL metro line B). However, there were a few issues: the internet was sporadic and slow (and was never fully operational during our stay); and while there is a thermostat […] in the room, do not expect to have control over the temperature during the fall. It was not cold enough for them to turn on the main furnace. Overall, I would recommend this hotel for a quick trip (due to its location and price). Nice hotel in good location for arriving by train. Hotel is in area with Metro & Trams which are perfect for navigating around all of Lyon. We saw all of the city that we wanted in 3 days including Stade de Gerland for a match. Lyon is a bit of a hidden gem and we enjoyed the city. Only stay here if nearness to the train station is the top priority. The bed was much like a stack of moldy cardboard and the neighborhood is a little creepy.

The staff was friendly, helpful and spoke english. The room was adequate and comfortable. Breakfast was consistent with a variety of options. The location is extremely convenient since it is directly on the square on the west entrance of the Part-Dieu train station.

Despite being in the processes of renovation, we found the hotel to be clean and comfortable. The buffet breakfast was good. The rooms were of a reasonable size for a French hotel of this standard. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. It was the worst hotel we have ever stayed in. The women who worked the front desk was rude and not helpful. The room, and the bathroom were filthy! We were so shocked a hotel could be so dirty.They do not have beds, they are like cots and they are so uncomfortable. The location is very good as it is just a short walk from the train station as well as the other public transportation. Hotel staff is ok and businesslike and will answer whatever questions that you might have but they are not warm. The room is pretty small and the decor looks a bit dated although it is generally quite clean.
