I'll get the only minor complaint out of the way, which is the lack of an update television in the room. In a hotel predicated on design and modernity, it's an eyesore. It was a very pretty hotel but certainly not a walk to town. The staff in general was not particularly pleasant or helpful. The breakfast, which was an additional charge was disappointing. My shower was cold and the toilet was difficult to flush. Overall, I would say it was overpriced. I have paid less for much more pleasant stays. Beautiful view of the lake; far superior to the view from any of the hotels in town. Great spa. Surprisingly great food in the restaurant. Like a lot of hotels in Argentina, terrific service. I loved this place. It sits on a hilltop overlooking Lake Argentino, a spectacular view, and foxes and hares can be seen walking outside of your window. For the rate I paid, it was one of the best bargains on a forty one day South American […] trip. The hotel is the first stop for the shuttles from the airport. The front desk arranged a tour to the Glacier for me - I was picked up at the hotel in the morning. There is a free shuttle down into town at night, and it is an inexpensive cab ride to town during the day and later in the evening after the last shuttle. The free breakfast was excellent and the restaurant staff was friendly and very accommodating. El Calafate is a wonderful little town and the Glacier is magnificent. This hotel has the best view in El Calafate and one of the best views in the world. The hotel has 6 stars view, 5 star look and 3.8 star rooms. Amazingly located on the hill facing Lago Argentino. "AMAZING views and a great design hotel"
The hotel is on the edge of town but preached high up on a hill with outstanding views, we had a room overlooking the lake, believe me its work the premium on the room rate!! Its a stunning view. The room was really well put together, a great bathroom and comfy bed, although the acoustics were probably not great but we had quiet neighbours and we slept […] very well (comfy bed). The hotel is the best in El Calafate, all the others look dull and boring but this place is unique, a very good design (been published a fair bit) so appeals to the design conscious, and the food in the restaurant was very good. We spent one day just relaxing in the hotel spa and chilling out. The only draw back was (and this is a problem ALL OVER Argentina) that some of the hotel spa was not maintained well, the pool was too hot to swim in and the water jets on the pool did not work, as well as the Scottish Shower, and the Spa just felt a little tired for a hotel which is not that old... One Argentinean woman told us that its just how things in Argentina are... we build beautiful buildings but then 'no maintenance'. But this was only in the Spa, and it still did not stop us from enjoying using the facilities. Being outside of the centre of town is a bonus as the centre of El Calafate is a bit er... dull? It could be anywhere. There are no views in the centre of town as your in a valley planted with trees to give shelter from the wind and as the whole town more or less has sprung up in the past 10 years to service the tourist trade the whole feeling is very un Argentinian, you could be in some quaint little Californian town somewhere; we had stayed in Buenos Aires and just outside Mendoza before this so the contrast was quite odd; if you want to go into town though to eat the hotel lays on a courtesy bus too an from the hotel which is fantastic. "Disappointing -don't check in with the night staff"
This is a hotel that definitely needs some tweaking. The one night-staff employee is horrendous here. While checking into our pre-paid room, complete with confirmation numbers, the man had no idea how to check us into a room. It didn't help that his English skills weren't up to par. We booked a triple room, but none were available, so we were forced […] to wait 30 minutes for a cot at 12:30 AM. It didn't help that the heating didn't work, and the employee seemed rather annoyed that we requested another room or a portable heater. Secondly, the "junior suite" is barely bigger than a average sized double room. The decor of the hotel looks sleek and contemporary in photos, but the quality of the finishes were a letdown. The carpet was what you'd find in a basement, and the TV looked to be 15 years old (even though the hotel was new). The bathroom though, was pretty amazing, and was easily the best part of the room. The breakfast buffet was standard. Oh yes, and if you plan on ironing your clothes here, be warned: the hotel offers no irons at all. Instead, you must use their pricey laundry service. This was quite annoying since it cost 30 pesos to iron one pair of pants, and required a full 18 hour wait for their "express" service. Had they any irons at all, I could have pressed my pants in about two minutes. I would have been okay paying the price, were it not such a long wait! Surely they can invest in irons. "Wonderful Patagonian Hotel"
Gorgeous hotel overlooking the Argentina Lake in Patagonia. We had the most amazing view. The staff was wonderful. The hotel was located far from the city center. "Patagonian Hotel in El Calafate Argentina"
The hotel is very comfortable and nice with free internet. The rooms are large with beautiful views of the lake and mountains. The staff is not the friendliest. There is a shuttle to take you into town (10 minute ride), it does not start running until 6:00PM and leaves the hotel on the hour and picks you up in town at 15 after. "would be hesitant to re-book"
Whilst reception was attentive and the structure and view stunning, the hotel is quite some distance from the town. We found that the room's maintenance was not good at all. Blown light bulbs, Toilet roll holders were loose and would not support the rolls. The plug top fell off the hair dryer. The water was smelly and brown. We filled the spa hoping […] to relax after a long journey, only to find the brown smelly water. We complained and got a shrug of shoulders, explanation-" The whole town is like it", not true. We ate in the restaurant the night of arrival. The meal whilst well presented, was minuscule. I had laundry service, four top class shirts worth US$2200 were returned ruined- shrunken. We were compensated for this in the final bill on check out without hassle. Breakfast, choices were limited and poorly presented, especially the hot section, which was cold! Tutto ottimo, tranne due punti fondamentali: 1) Nel periodo estivo le stanze che affacciano sul lago (le più belle e ... care!) NON disponendo di impianti di aria condizionata, si trasformano in veri e propri forni crematori (anche di notte)! 2) WiFi, al contrario di quello che è annunciato sul sito, NON funziona nelle stanze e nella hall dell'albergo […] funziona malissimo (il relativo collegamento è debolissimo). Le regalé esta noche de estadía a mi novio. Le encanto este hotel y eso que es re exigente en su gusto. Estaba fascinado con la vista, con la comodidad de la habitación, la piscina climatizada y el jacuzzi.
