This hotel exceeded our expectations. The main restaurant (Don Manuel buffet) had excellent food and very well trained staff. Excellent hotel and exceptional staff. Although it is an all inclusive we brought money to tip the staff. Not expected but genuinely appreciated. Pay attention to details when booking your room. All rooms are basically Junior Suites but the Junior Suite Superior has the pool or ocean view. Even though it was a buffet style for meals, we found ourselves […] gravitating to the same seating sections for meals. We found that most people did the same so you ended eating with the same group if you wanted to. There were a number of restaurants on the property that you could make reservations at but the food you are served comes from the buffet and they have a dress code. We found the buffet to be the best bet. We stuck with breakfast and dinner although lunch was available as well. If you do three buffets a day, bring clothes one size larger for the trip home!! We did have room service once. Fast and efficient. Drinks were great any time any place. For the pool and the beach we did see people that had their own mugs that they refilled throughout the day. Also, be reminded this is not the United States so food may be a little different but still very good. Almost everyone speaks some English, but be patient - you are the foreigner. Also, make sure your cash is in small bills. Ones and fives worked for us. Change is hard to come by and there are NO ATMs in or around the hotel or airport. We had read up on the all the reviews prior to going to this hotel. We were there for a friend's beach side wedding...which was beautiful. We loved many aspects of this hotel. I would say the average age is 50. This is nice for people that aren't there to party and might be getting a vacation from their kids. There were some kids here but they were far and few between. The beach is covered in palm trees which is welcomed shade in the heat of the day. The water is refreshing and the sand is like walking on flour. We found ourselves saying time and time again how romantic the hotel was. The whole hotel has free wi-fi which was great for staying in touch with little ones back home. We have stayed at other Riu hotels in other countries and this was, by far, our favorite. The friendliness of the staff and abundance of staff are wonderful. You never have to wait for anything. The minute you sit down, there is someone there to greet you and take your order. Love that there is shopping right in the resort so you don't have to haggle […] with anyone and you only pay a dollar more for the same items. Water taxis are right in front as well as a nice view of a sunken ship. Plenty of chairs by the pool and on the beach even though we never got out there before noon. My wife and I, along with another couple, just recently spent 6 nights there, and can honestly say that the hotel, including it's staff, the food at the various themed restaurants and buffet, the beverages, the beach and pool, and EVERYTHING was much better than we expected. The only real negative experience was over dinner at the Japanese Restaurant […] where a group of obnoxious men traveling on their own were very disruptive, after having, apparently spent ALL day pounding beers, drinks, etc., and completely ruined dinner for the other diners. The manager came over to their table 3 times to calm them, to no avail. They ultimately left to our applause. The only thing that could have been better was the timing of them cleaning our room. When we arrived our room was not clean yet. We sat on the balcony with a drink and enjoyed our view so not a big deal. Also there was one other day that the cleaning lady was in there when we got back and we could not get ready when we would have liked. My husband and I just returned from a five day stay at Riu Palace. The hotel was beautiful inside and out with some minor details needing improvement. From the housekeepers, landscapers and cooks to the waiters, recreation team and managers, the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Food and drinks were also excellent and beautifuly presented. We would love to go back but there is one thing that we did not appreciate and would probably keep us from doing so. Most (or at least that's how it felt) of all the guests smoked cigar or cigarrettes EVERYWHERE in the hotel without regard of those of us who didn't, including children. Coming from a family of non-smokers and with allergies this often made us uncofortable and even sick. Not sure that much can be done about that though because even in non-smoking areas people did't abstain from doing so. This was our third stay at a Riu. The first two were at the place maco this one was the palace punta Cana. I would guess that the economy plays a part but they were very understaffed. The beach was not as move on the past . Our room was never made ip until after 4pm. We will return to the DR but not to the Riu Palace Pumta Cana.

I was very disapointed in our room, room was old beds were hard and not very comfortable, they gave you 2 very flat and uncomfortable pillows, I had to call for more pillows, and I had to call 3 times before they brought anything up. We got married at the Riu Palace Punta Cana in January 2013. As I have much to say about my experience, I'll try to be to the point. Wedding: The wedding coordinator, Maria, knew what she was doing, took notes and delivered. Definitely reliable and good. Flowers - expensive but beautiful, exactly what I wanted. Positives: We loved everything about the resort. We had two suites between the five of us and these suites were nice and spacious. One had a nice view of the pool, beach and the ocean. We had varied times that we wanted the rooms cleaned up during the day and the housekeeping staff were very willing to oblige. All in-room drinks and any room service […] orders were included. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Also, the resort is next to the beach offers several beach activities, including training on windsurfing, catamaran etc, at very nominal prices. Most drinks were the base quality for any liquor and single malts were not even offered. My trip was on November 25th but I'm just getting to the review now. We were scheduled to stay at Riu Punta Cana but upon arrival were upgraded to the newly remodeled Bavaro part of the resort. It was AMAZING! The room was immaculate and had everything we needed and more. The view from the balcony overlooked the fountains and it was fun to watch all […] the people come and go. As to the shower area, Wow you could fit 10 people in there! It was great and so clean. Flat screen TV with many channels to chose from. The staff was fantastic from the maid service to wait staff, even the towel people were so nice to us every day. Every morning the beach and pool workers would clear off our chairs and set them up where we wanted them. The Food was so much better than any of the other resorts we had been to as well as all of the a la carte's. Just wonderful all around. The RIU Palace Punta Cana was excatly as advertised. Very clean, freindly staff, typical food for an all inclusive, but better than most. There are 5 speciality resturants, ranked best to least, in my opiion: 1-Steak House, 2-Brazilian, 3-Fusion, 4-Italian, 5-Japanese. The rooms were cleaned daily and fresh towels were brought nightly if requested. […] Ask for an upper level room, as first floor rooms are extremely humid. The quality is consistent and good, but not impressive. On the other side, if one wants signature restaurants, one wouldn't go to an all-inclusive resort, I think. Swimming pulls were adequate and you can go to the beach. The sand is perfect, the water very warm (end November). They offer water sport activities, many things are also free of charge. They say there is a sharing privilege with other Riu properties but we were didn't really see anything that could be shared so I am not really sure how "real" this offer is. On the other side one never really needs to leave the property. Also the different properties seem to cater to different crowds, so the chances are you want to stay in your property anyway. We checked out the brand new Riu Bavaro property (we looked but didn't eat/drink there and never saw the hotel rooms). Having said this, I think that Riu Palace (where we stayed) is much better as a built, decor, and landscaping. 詳情

I expected the slight musty-ness considering the tropical location, but hotel really needs upgrades. Lobby lights and bar shut down by 11PM every night. Since when does a hotel lobby shut its lights off? Making reservations wasn't horrible, just annoying since you can only do it between 8-11 in the morning. Also, website says you can access all 5 resorts. Fails to mention you cannot drink or eat at two of them (not even if you are willing to pay). Casino is super small. I will do this review how I wish someone would have reviewed it for me. Before going I saw alot of negative statements. Not everyone is always going to be please 100% of the time. I want to address my initial concerns and what the actual reality was. Initial concern: The rooms were going to smell like mildew. Actual: Certain wings of the Resort had […] a mildew odor but my room didnt have the mildew odor that people were concerned with on the reviews. Initial Concern: Hard Beds. Actual: The beds are firm. When I think of a hard bed I think of lying on the floor. They arent that bad, after a few drinks it doesnt really matter at all. If you are expecting a pillow top bed then this probably isnt the best bet. Initial Concern: Cleanliness of the resort Actual: This was the nicest resort I have ever been to as far as cleanliness. If you set an empty glass down someone is right there within minues to pik it up and then as you what was in the glass so they can refil it for you. 2 other concerns: I was expecting the food to be better. I stayed at the Riu Cancun and thought the food was very good and the food here just didnt live up to that. The choices werent that great unless you only wanted to eat fruit. If you didnt like what they had day 1 you werent going to enjoy days 2,3..etc. Lastly, the smoking! Everyone is smoking. For someone who doesnt smoke it was an issue, for someone who does smoke you couldnt ask for a better place to stay. I would stay at this Riu again! 詳情

The hotel an 'odor" possibly mild due. The food was not good. The staff was inconsistent- some friendly/helpful and others rude. However, when, after several request, to switch to a sister hotel the staff was accommodating and assisted us with the move. I would not recommend this hotel.
