Golf View Hotel & Spa - Nairn

No longer even close to 4* hotel. Have stayed at the Golf View for forty years but not in last few - this was our first visit since taken over and we are very sad it is so poor. General standard of cleanliness poor, our bathroom floor was filthy, shower tiles dirty and shower door wouldn't close. Food dreadful and not value for money. Waldorf salad […] starter: handful of pre-bagged salad leaves, two tiny pieces celery, 1 walnut broken in tiny bits, a quarter of an apple thin sliced, 1 cherry tomato - £6.95. Rack of lamb: no rack, instead 2 x 3cm chunk of loin, over-cooked, tough, handful cherry tomatoes, 1 flat mushroom(watery), and side salad instead of chips at my request ( served in a sugar bowl) - £19.00+ Ordered white wine but not chilled. Had to wait so long for table at breakfast, a fellow guest pointed out we were waiting. Robes for leisure club, which used to be in every room, cost £7.50 each to 'hire'. No wi-fi for entire stay (2 nights). Additional charge for paying by credit card. Discussed at length with only available member of management staff prior to leaving, and provided written feedback. Hope they act on info and improve. Happy to pay for good quality hotel and food - suggest they sort it out and actually provide a 4* service. At present, cost-cutting is evident and muddled marketing is pulling this once-beautiful hotel down. American travellers especially should be aware this is no longer the standard it used to be, and then some. 詳情

The location is outstanding, right beside the sea in a lovely peaceful part of Nairn, and first impressions are great - we had a superb room that initially looked great, and the Reception staff were excellent and very helpful. However, the restaurant/kitchen staff didn't reach the same level of competence, and seemed constantly under-staffed and short […] of knowledge about the food they were serving. Housekeeping was poor - chairs and ledges in the dining room and public areas were dusty (obviously seldom/never cleaned) and stains/marks on the furniture and walls of our bathroom remained there for the duration of our stay. We got a good rate through Expedia so the hotel was very good value for what we paid, but anyone paying rack rate or full rate for breakfasts would be disappointed. So although we would recommend the hotel, it would be with reservations - much tighter management control is needed. 詳情

Lovely well maintained and improved hotel and leisure centre. Only downside was the restaurant on Sunday. Breakfast was until 10 and we went down at 9.30 to be told we would need to wait in the reception area but all the seating was taken by other guests waiting for their breakfast. Ample tables in diningroom but not enough staff to clear those already […] vacated. Booked dinner in the restaurant that evening for 8 but there was a big function in another part of the hotel and although the food was good, again there wasn't the staff to cover the hotel guests diningroom. Felt sorry for the staff who had to keep soming out to say that the chefs were busy with the other function but management shouldn't have allowed this to happen. They were conspicuous by their absence. Most of the diners complained but we weren't offered any reduction in the cost of the meal or even a free bottle of wine. We would willingly have dined at a different time if we had been told about the other function. Despite that would recommend the hotel. 詳情

Nice hotel with big, clean, comfortable rooms. Friendly, helpful staff. My only complaint is that there are no vegetarian options on the menus, so my wife and I had to go elsewhere for a meal in the evening.

This hotel was quite expensive and we were charged a big premium for the Tuesday night as they had a cometic company boondoggle booked. When we entered the room it looked like someone had laid on the bed and it did not look level...I was told, sorry, no other rooms available. When I turned down the covers later that night to retire, I noticed dirty […] spots on the sheet. On closer inspection, I saw some hairs. I called to complain and have the bed changed and the fellow initially brought one sheet the wrong size. Eventually I was given a complete set of clean bedding. My husband and I took off the dirty sheets and MADE THE BED at 11:30pm. No one from the hotel ever mentioned this to us. Upon check out I asked the woman at reception if they had been informed. She indicated they had...period. No apology, no consideration. Apart from that experience, the hotel is poorly run with poorly trained staff. We drove down to Aberdeen, stayed in a Holiday Inn, and remarked what a well run hotel it was. The Golf View is in a great location, has potentially great rooms to justify the rates. It needs an infusion of money, care and hotel management. 詳情

It was an easy experience from start to finish. A lovely get away hotel . Our hotel room had a wonderful view out to sea just could have had a slightly firmer mattress (but that is a personal choice) . The food in the conservatory was to a high standard . All in all a lovely weekend
