There is a tram stop right in front of the hotel and within 20 minutes of walk, you can reach quite a lot of attractions in Amsterdam. To get to the hotel, you can take no. 4 or 9 tram from the Amsterdam Centraal train station. It just takes around 5 minutes.

"Excellent for my purpose: teaching in Netherlands"
I was really impressed with the Bastion Hotel - especially the friendliness and helpfulness of most of the staff. Stayed there 5 days. Comfy bed, good shower, ample space in the clean room, fridge, tea/coffee making facilities, free wifi, and excellent breakfast each morning. Breakfast was a pleasant surprise cos I'd read an adverse comment on trip […] Advisor. "Standard but the best price around"

"Inexpensive Yet Limited"
The rooms were a little small and the location was not really close to much, limiting dinner choices and down time. Our stay was short so it was not a big deal. The hotel looked pretty new and was well mainitained. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was NOT included and to me did not seem to be worth the 11Euros they charged. "Really only convenient for passing highway traffic"
This really is what should be called a motel rather than a hotel. The parking area is full each night with plenty of commercial vehicles. The room was a smoking room (with no chice to move to one that didn't stink) and the bed was broken. The free WiFi was unavailable for 50% of my stay. The staff seemed pleasant enough, but for an accomodation site […] that is situated beside a freeway and a couple of Km out of the town of Leiden, it seemed to be a passing traffic and business hotel only. "Hotel for people on the move close to highway"
Ok hotel close to the highway without any annoying noise however. It is too far from Leiden and is best for people on the move. Nothing to see and do in the neighbourhood. De ligging van het hotel is iets te ver weg van het dorpje zelf. Het balie personeel sprak je steeds aan in het Engels terwijl wij toch gewone Nederlanders zijn, ook al komen wij uit Limburg. Prima hotel voor zakelijk verblijf. Zeer vriendelijk personeel, prettige kamers aan rustige gangenschoon, van alle gemakken voorzien. De kamer is schoon en comfortabel; fijn is de waterkoker en koffie & thee, en ook de kleine koelkast die je voor je eigen gebruik kunt vullen. Het hotel is rustig (in de gangen) maar biedt ook een gezellig bar en klein […] restaurant. Het eten is zeer basic, maar oke; met verse groente, beetje te droog vlees, koffie na. Zoals gebruikelijk hebben we in het hotel overnacht omdat het op loopafstand van familie is. Een uitkomst voor de kerstdagen. We waren er niet op voorbereid dat de mini-bar niet meer in gebruik is. We hadden contant geld nodig om in de hal consumpties uit een een automaat te halen. De kamer kregen we niet goed verwarmd en de sprei gleed van het bed […] af, dus echt warm geslapen heb ik niet.
