The Observatory Hotel - Millers Point

A little on the expensive side. Very helpful and friendly staff. Furnishings need updating. Very Quiet location, needs more Caffee's/Restaurant's within easy walking distance. Parking should be included.

Outstanding service from the moment you get out of the cab. Difficult to cash a travelers check - U.S. $82 back on a U.S. $100 Amex travelers check. I guess this kind of rate is standard now, though. Some hotels on this trip did not cash at all.

Lovely hotel perfect location within walking distance to the rocks, circular quay and the city. the hotel staff very friendly, although we were misinformed about the internet service by the person who showed us the room. We arrived early and our room wasnt ready, we were informed that our cases would be in the room when we came back they were not so […] we had to ask for them. A couple of trivial matters but not 5* service. we didnt have time to check out the pool area. We also noted from a previous guests review about the bottle of water in the room being 10 dollars so it took us acouple of days to find out that the bottles of water in the velvet pouches were infact foc. All in all we were very satisfied with our stay. As far as the internet is concerned they really need to move into the next century and offer free wifi. 詳情

From the moment we entered the Hotel we were made to feel like we were at home. ALL the staff were so helpful, friendly and pleasant that we felt part of a family rather than guests at a Hotel. It will be our home in Sydney from now on.

Very British in feel, Perfect service. the room was large, comfortable, and sumptuous. I'm a sucker for heated towel racks. My only complaint is that the restaurant is very upscale with breakfast priced accordingly - but i'm a coffee and croissant kinda person, so it wasn't a bother.

My 91 year old Mother & I spent 4 nights luxuriating at this gem of a hotel. Attention to detail from mouth wash in the central bathroom to slippers by the bed was much appreciated. After many years of wanting to stay at this hotel, I finally had the opportunity. The hotel is gorgeous, with great artworks in the lobby. Close to the Rocks area, but not right in it. Staff are lovely and helpful. On entering my room, I thought it was exactly as expected. Small hallway with enormous bathroom (with tub and shower) leads to large bedroom […] with comfy sitting area. Big tv, complimentary tea & instant(?!) coffee with some fruit (not replenished for 2nd night). However, there were two things that really put me off. One was the carpet in the mini-hallway outside the bathroom. It was so smooth from wear that it was actually dangerous coming out of the bathroom. I almost fell twice - then put the rubber bathmat there and all was ok. Worse than that was the bed. I like a firm bed, but this was hard (ala $30/nt hostels I stayed in while travelling Taiwan). It was also very unevenly worn and didn't appear to have been rotated or replaced in many years. Despite the staff putting an extra fluffy mattress pad on, it was only minimally better. The hotel is located in a quiet section of Sydney on Millers Point. It is about a 15 minute walk to the Rocks area. Our room was large, with a comfortable bed, a desk and armchairs. Our check-in process was quick, efficent and friendly. The concierges were knowledeable and extremely helpful. The Observatory Hotel promises personal service - and it delivers. You walk into the lobby - the concierge greets you by name, you need directions, transport, restaurants, tours - done! That's the beauty of a small 5 star hotel. We had friends staying at a large 5 star hotel closer to Sydney's CBD - no-one knew who you were!!

The room was OK but noisier than I expected from adjoining rooms. The gaps under the room door are quite large and particularly the door to the adjoining room - so we got full volume of the screaming baby next door. Eventually I rolled up a towel and used it to block off the gap. The rooms are well appointed and well serviced each day. The breakfast […] is ridiculously expensive. I was not told about parking charges when I booked or when I checked in so I was not pleased to be hit with $40 per day when I checked out, especially as I had not used the car at all during my stay. 詳情

My girlfriend and I decided to stay at the Observatory as it was slightly away from the city centre and also as it was one of the Orient Express hotels. We were certainly not disappointed, from the minute we walked into the hotel to the moment we left 7 days later everything was as it should be. ロビー・部屋の雰囲気は豪華で、3階建ての大きすぎないホテルだからこそ落ち着いてゆったりとくつろげました。（部屋は広く設備なども十分） サービスは不足も過剰もなく、あっさりとした印象。 部屋はシティビューのため、目の前にある普通の通りに人が歩く、という風景でしたが、それはそれで分かっていたので問題ありませんでした。ハーバーブリッジやオペラハウス、ハーバーが見たい場合は、やはりそのようなホテルを選んだほうが良いと思います。 ２つの駅からの徒歩はどちらも少し（10～15分程）あり、特に寒い時期は遠く感じてしまうかも。ただし、サーキュラーキーの駅を使うとロックスのなかを散歩できる感じで楽しめます。（夜は女性だけだと不安な気もするのでシティから帰る時はタクシーを使いましたが） 全体的には満足でした。
