The beach is absolutely fabulous. The hotel is ok, rooms and everything's fine, but the real gem of this place is its extremely comfortable beach side. They provide great chaise-longues to enjoy the pleasant caribbean surroundings in a rustic but very comfortable setting, and the beach is not crowded, you can always find a nice place where to lie down […] and relax. The sunsets are awesome and you can enjoy them from the restaurant right there, which provides great cocktails and very good free wi-fi. Been coming to Isla Mujeres for 24 years and always wanted to stay at Na Balam but it was always out of our price range. Decided to splurge and were sadly disappointed. Location is the best but other than the lovely breakfast there were no other amenities. It was a room with a bed, a bath and a safe- that's it. We had to tote water from the market- […] a giant pain. We were on the ground floor "ocean view" (there was no ocean view). We had been dreaming of sleeping to the sound of the surf and the breeze but didn't feel comfortable sleeping with the door to ground level wide open. Such a shame. We asked to change to an upper level room each day but were told by a surly attendant at the counter nothing was available (this was in low season). My advice: book a place with at least a fridge, water, coffee and a balcony and you'll be much happier. Spend the money you save on a few nice meals and cocktails in town instead. 詳情

Great beach location, the entire hotel reminded me of Mexico before the all inclusives took over, back in the day. No tv or telephone in the very sparsely appointed room (not even a cushion on the chairs), or a picture on the wall. That said, the view of the beach through the palm trees made up for it. Lots of construction going on, for a long time, […] it appeared. Front desk people ranged from cheerful/helpful to surly/dismissive. The restaurant staff was generally pleasant/helpful. If there is a next time, I might buy a small coffee pot for the room. No phone, so no coffee until 7:30 or so, when they have it ready. Fantastic, peaceful location on a beautiful lake. Staff are very professional, polite and helpful. Rooms are in good, clean condition. The wait staff was very friendly but the service not so great. The people at the front desk were not very helpful and do not know how to market the place. It seems like they are still living the dream of a past economy or that the beach will sell the hotel. I wanted to take my daughter someplace special for our birthdays. Our first vacation, just us...We chose the hotel partly for the yoga classes on site. Also, Isla Mujeres is off the beaten path, yet fairly convenient to get to. The hotel was everything I hoped for and more. Our room was facing the ocean on the upper level. The room was comfortable, […] once we figured out the AC, and very nice but not fancy. Even the bed was comfortable and we slept well every night. The yoga classes were fabulous. We signed up for a 5 class package and took a class each morning. The classes were an hour and a half + and we got lots of personal instruction. We spent most days on the beach and in the patio section of Zazil Ha. I liked the pit group area that lets you be close to the beach but out of the sun. Also has internet access. And the food was wonderful...great green detox drink, fabulous margaritas....We also walked into town for several meals, a short walk, great shopping and restaurants. The staff at the hotel were very friendly...I can't say enough about it. One more thing, the Fenix Restaurant was also great also on site. Na Balam got some underserved poor scores. The location happened to be the best location on the island (as far as beaches go), and fairly convenient to excitement of down town. The grounds were spectacular, and for such a reasonable price. Front desk and beach bar staff were not amazing, but not bad either. We loved staying at Na Balam. It was exactly what we were looking for... The beach is beautiful and very relaxing. From our estimation, this was the best hotel on the North Beach. We prefer smaller, more boutique-style hotels, so this fit the bill. The other hotels along the beach are much larger and much more crowded/loud. And they didn't look as "nice." […] Their new restaurant "Fenix" is just beautiful!! The proximity to town is great--just a short walk. The rooms were what we expected--nothing special. We stayed in a beach-view room and we were very glad we did that. It is definitely worth the upgraded price. Since we didn't expect a luxurious room, we weren't disappointed. The rooms are very basic. The service at breakfast was very slow...very slow...but since breakfast is on the beach, with a beautiful view and we were on vacation, we didn't particularly mind. Also, this is an island in Mexico...so we didn't expect to have the speedy service one is accustomed to in the U.S. And this suited us just fine. The scuba/snorkeling company that is set up at Na Balam is great! Don't book with anyone else, even if you can find slightly cheaper rates in town. The guides are great and it's very convenient to be able to walk out of our hotel room and get on the boat and go. So, overall, we absolutely loved, loved Na Balam. We got married 4 years ago at the Na Balam and although they have made changes to the main areas - we still absolutely love this hotel. If you are not one for relaxing and enjoying romantic time with your mate, then you might want to look elsewhere. They have added onto the dining area and have a new bar called Fenix - which is ran by two lovely people […] (Eric and Jackie). They do have a new manager, Francesco and he did a great job in checking with us to make sure our stay was everything we expected. Rooms are still same, however, very clean and well maintained. I saw some people say things were outdated - people - it is Mexico!!! If you want granite and fluffy pillows then stay at a hotel in Cancun. We had a lovely stay - our third year in a row. The setting is gorgeous with lots of lush green palm trees and plants looking out to the beach and the turquoise water. The prices are very reasonable considering the setting and room size. The food at the restaurant was excellent. A bit pricier that some restaurants in town but the menu is a bit more […] creative and the food is fresh, healthy and well presented. Easy access to town - less than a ten minute walk to everything - tons of restaurants and shops - the best thing is that downtown is close enough but far enough away that there is no noise. This is the second time I have stayed here. If you like simple but tasteful rooms, without TV etc, in a superb location on right on North Beach, this hotel takes a lot of beating. The hotel has a new chef this year, and the food is excellent.

This hotel has a wonderful beach, is quiet and relaxing whether you stay on the pool or beach side. Not much shade on the beach side and either you are in a chair or laying on wooden platform with foam mattress. The hammock stretched across the patio outside the door to each unit makes entry and exit awkward. If you prefer a soft bed do not stay here, […] the mattresses are on concrete platforms. They are so hard, glad we were only there for a couple of nights. Our reservation was for a king bed but the hotel had us down for two doubles, they blamed the mix up on Hotels.com. I loved so much about Na Balam. The ocean side room with a balcony was clean and spare. The hotel was beautiful. The location was spectacular. In general, I found the restaurant/beach service to be indifferent. Neither of the yoga classes I took were very good. Nonetheless, I would absolutely go back.

We really enjoyed the location of Na Balam. The hotel itself is great for us, we like the small quaint out of the way places. Very peaceful and serene atmosphere. The hotel sits on a perfect stretch of a nice, wide beach. The restaurant staff were not too friendly but the beach service attendants were great! The most beautiful spot on the island.! We would go into town for activities but then come back to our beautiful, quiet resort for the perfect sunsets and delicious dinners just steps from the water. This was our second year at Isla Mujeres, both times we stayed at Na Balam. You can't beat the location: right on the beach yet within walking distance of the restaurants and stores. What was disappointing this year was the fact that yoga is no longer included in the room rate - you could attend the classes, but they now cost $12 per person. I'm positive […] the website said there was a free class for hotel guests but when we inquired about it, we were told the hotel is under new management and policies have changed. Beyond that, it would have been nice to have a refrigerator in the room - we were able to rent one, but it was very old and either didn't cool or froze things. There was also no bottled water available anywhere on the property. Last but not least, customer service was really bad. Had a great stay. Fun island to explore. You get a lot more local culture than in other spots we stayed in Mexico. Hotel was really nice. With some of the negative reviews are expectations were low. This is the best beach you'll find. Calm shallow water and soft sand. We had our wedding here and it was a beautiful place. The hotel grounds are very tropical and quiet. Our guest liked the hotel and rooms. We were concerned because it is not a modern highrise hotel but everyone like the laid back charm. We had a few mechinical issues in the room […] but after a visit to the desk someone came right up. There are some bugs as others reported. Some mostquitos depending on where you were and some very tiny ants in some of the rooms. The floor drains stink like many of the hotels in Mexico but we found we could eliminate it by covering the hole with a towel. The little inconviences didn't bother us much. If you like modern 6 star high rise hotels with 4 restaurants this is not the place for you. But if you want a taste of authentic mexico, quiet and laid back give this a try. We did have a slight issue at check out regarding our wedding deposit and are still trying to get it resolved. At check out they did not have our deposit information or an accounting of what was used but wanted further payment. We had to leave to catch our flight but the hotel has been in contact and I believe we'll get it resolved. The staff has been very friendly and helpful during the entire stay. 詳情

My girlfriend is used to larger resort properties so when we arrived at the more intimate Na Balam, she was luke warm on the place. 24 hours later she was loving it. We spent three days there with one night poolside and the other two beachfront. We preferred the beachfront (2nd floor) but that is a personal preference. The pool is small but nice, though […] the ocean will likely be your spot for time in the water. Gorgeous beach on two sides of the property. One faces the ocean, and the other just around the bend faces a large calm/clear sand bottom lagoon that is maximum chest deep, but primarily waist deep. Great for kids, weaker/non- swimmers, relaxing, etc... The beach area never seemed overly busy and the lounge chairs/elevated beach mattresses were perfect. For food/beverage they have what you need, but it wasn't busy in the restaurant/bar at all. It seems most people walk a few minutes down the beach to some popular beach bars (busier beach too), or walk the road 5 minutes into town where there are unlimited options. Overall I'd call the hotel a more peaceful refuge with more "action" nearby. Taxi's are always at hand if you need to venture farther, and do grab a golf cart for a day to tour the island. One day will be enough for that unless you always want a cart for whatever reason. Would I change anything about the hotel? Even though the rooms are basic with no TV or phone, that was fine with me. It adds to the relaxation. My only gripe would be the hard beds. These aren't the typical american mattress/box spring set-up, and it seems like more of a very thick padded mat without springs. Again, a personal preference thing. The linens and pillows were fine though. Both rooms we stayed in were the same for that so I assume they are all similar. That's my only issue though. The staff was very nice no matter who we talked with so thumbs-up there. Since there are different room types in different areas, be sure to make final coordination with the hotel on which room 詳情

We loved this hotel. Definintely recommend the hot tub suites. I think we had the master suite (#19) and it was awesome. The restruant is a little expensive but the fridge in the room makes it easy to pickup basics from the grocery store 8 blocks away. Nice quiet resort and beach on the far side of north beach.

My girlfriend and I stayed in one of Na Balam's junior suites for a week. Everything worked out great except for the mosquitos. They were EVERYWHERE in our room. We ended up getting bitten all over by the end of the trip. I investigated the doors and windows of the suite and there were large spaces in-between the doors for mosquitos to get through. […] We talked with other people at the hotel and they had the same issues in their rooms. The hotel did provide some stuff to get rid of them, but we didn't want to be inhaling chemicals all night. The hotel needs to do a better job of insulating the rooms so nothing gets in. Besides that, the hotel was great. I recommend getting one of the beach side rooms as you can literally walk right out of the room and be steps from the beach. The hotel restaurant / bar is a little more expensive than downtown, but the food is good. Make sure you try some fajitas de arrachera at Bucaneros before you leave the island! 詳情

The food at the hotel was far too expensive and we think they and the public would benefit by making changes there, but we would come back here in a minute. We loved it!

The hotel atmosphere and grounds were serene, the staff helpful, but there was a general run-down feeling about the property. The hotel restaurant was understaffed and very slow. The few employees struggled to serve and respond, but were overwhelmed when the restaurant wasn't really crowded.
