"Extremely overpriced for the standard"
Leaking toilet, noisy air con, plant room outside room, no glass in windows (only shutters). This hotel is well past its best despite new tiles in the bathroom and a clean room. The air con was so noisy I had to turn it off as it sounded like it was going to jump out of the wall when it constantly cycled on and off. There is a plant room outside Room […] 21 which causes more noise at night. The bed looked old and was not comfortable. The cistern ran all night and the tap to turn it off was seized. TV reception and choice poor (golf, football discussion panel, Conan the Barbarian, some other bad movie and no news channels). There is an accommodation shortage in Mackay which is why they can charge up to $180 a night for an extremely basic establishment like this and still fill it. "Comfort Inn The Rose - very friendly"
The hotel stayed open late to enable us to check in - THANKYOU!!! Running late on a long road trip and when we arrived, greeted with a smile, great service and a clean and tidy room. The facilities are dated, but are definitely clean and up to scratch for what they offer. It was literally a place to sleep, but in the morning, the pool was a welcome […] and energising start to the day and the kids loved it too.
