I have stayed here several times now and always enjoy my stay. On Mondays they have a great deal on food in the bar and I love the charm of the building! I always stay here when Im in town for work.

Their pool area is really nice and relaxing. We went to go eat breakfast at their restaurant outside on the patio, which was super nice, and my husband heard a clipping noise by the pool. I heard it too but there was a pool sign in my view. My husband told me it was some guy clipping his toe nails right next to the pool. Disgusting! I was in shock! […] Then the clipping stopped and my husband told me he was shaving his feet with one of those foot stones! I couldn't help but laugh and be disgusted at the same time. The look on his face was priceless! Plus knowing how clean my husband is just made it that more funny! Then we got our food and my husband saw he went back inside. Well, then I saw him come back out and he was standing this time so I could see him. He started to cut his chest hair. I thought I was going to throw up! I told my husband you need to go say something please! He felt funny saying something but he told the receptionist and a manager told the guy to stop. That man must have been European. He had that look with the mustache and short bathing suit. Anyways we later swam and relaxed and hada nice time. We would recommend this hotel and would come back! 詳情

Such a nice place to stay! Its beautiful inside, great $5 beer and burger at the bar and BEAUTIFUL pool! Even better the guy at the desk gave me a free upgrade to a pool side cabana! Will be back again for sure!

This is a good hotel, nicely remodeled, the pool is excellent, The front desk staff during the day was not friendly, except for the service manager, Lydia, who was very friendly and professional. The adjoining restaurant and bar was great, with good specials. My major complaints were no fridge or microwaves in the rooms, unfriendly staff, non-existent […] breakfast (not even coffee!), and a certain hostility towards guests who book online. So...part of why we stayed there was the location to our events...and that it had historic significance. However, the staff didn't really tell us about the hotel at check in; nor the amenities ...like coffee in the a.m., the cool people sized chess and checker board outside, where the work out room was....or anything. Nor....was there info in the hotel […] room. I ran into another couple on the second day....and they were surprised about the coffee as well...and had the same experience of 'no one sharing'. The first night we stayed there we had a pool side suite (34). This room felt much like a Motel 6 room. External entry way, bad dirty carpet and the room was very smelly. Love this area of San Diego. Hotel sort of looks like the Washington monument when you first drive up. The Red Fox next door looks like a strip club but is actually a super cool piano bar/lounge, great food, fun entertainment.

When I first drove by the hotel, I was a bit hesitant. It didn't look like a hotel from the outside, especially since it was in the middle of a neighborhood. It looked like it was a hotel for an older crowd, but to my surprise it wasn't. There was a young group already in the pool while I was checking in. We got a room with one king bed- it was your […] basic room: bed, night stands, tv, bathroom and closet. There wasn't anything wrong with it so we took off to the zoo. When we came back however, there was a lingering acetone scent in the bathroom. It wasn't bad at first but as soon as it creeped out to the room, I called front desk. She quickly sent maintenance up to check it out who sent an engineer to follow up. Unfortunately they couldn't find the source. They went to front desk and requested a new room for us. The second room was more like a suite and was 3 times the size as the first room. Sure, the new room made the visit better, but I wouldn't have mind the first room either. Nice historic hotel. Only problem was that there were stairs from the elevator to our room so we could not use the luggage cart to load & unload at our room. Underground parking was great! The pool was fantastic!

Driving up to the hotel I was not sure how it was going to be since the neighborhood is a tad rough, but once inside I was very pleasantly surprised! Nice hotel .. better than the neighborhood would lead you to think. Room furnature not too comfortable. Large room, but mostly empty space. Small table barely useable for "work". Comfortable bed.

It was ok, except our room was next to the stairs. I can hear people go up and down stairs during the night. And the door to the pool swing open and slam shut for a good part of the night. My family and I didn't sleep much. We like the hotel in general but these areas can be improved.

Lafayette Hotel & Swim Club was more affordable than a nice hotel, but didn't seem quite nice enough for the price. The building and grounds were kept clean enough and smelled pleasant upon entry. The Suze Suite is the perfect room for a young family. Having a separate room for our 2 year old was wonderful, and the bed in the 2nd room was low enough that we had no worries about letting him sleep there. I love this hotel. I used to live in San Diego and frequented the Red Fox Room often, so was familiar with this hotel and pool and recommended it to family and friends. I like the renovations, but I miss the hot tub!! Also, missed the free breakfast, and free happy hour. Other than that, still a great place overall. The ice machine, however, was out […] of order, which was a bit inconvenient, but the bar staff below gladly gave us ice. This hotel is nice for people who know what they are getting. An old-fashioned boutique style hotel, that is not in the Gaslamp District, but more a regular neighborhood familiar with the locals. Great hotel, comfortable rooms, excellent pool, low rate by California standards. Drive to La Jolla, Carlsbad, and Pacific Beach were all under 30minutes even with traffic. Maid service was impeccable. Love the underground parking. Have stayed twice, and will again.

Absolutely loved this hotel. Pool and patio were terrific. Hotel had everything we wanted (except big pool towels). And also had lots of stuff we didn't even think about: like an indoor art market with handcrafts and street tacos. We had an amazing time, kids and all! The hotel staff...specifically Marty, were top notch and took very good care of us! I love the ambiance and activities the hotel offered...just about every night! In fact, we are considering another "adult" trip this summer with some of our friends.

We would not stay at this hotel again. I think they ran out of money when refurbishing the hotel and didn't finish furnishing the rooms. We were given a room two doors away from the open lobby where a bank was playing and they manager had to ask the band to quite after the time they had been told to end the music. Good little historic hotel. Being that it is older the walls are thin and it can get a Lil noisy but nothing major. The piano bar next door is very cozy and private . Cute little spot .

I love the Lafayette, it's decor is vintage and it has an incredible history not to mention the great bar on site although they will tell you that it's technically not a part of the hotel. The Red Fox room is a San Diego landmark as is the Lafayette
